And what the F are you? XD If you are telling me you are admitted for Columbia's PHD Economics then I would certainly admire you XD But well, if you are going to the School of International and Public Affiars, I would say, so what XD I am so shock that Columbia admmits a SOAS idiot with only A-Level maths :frown:

Anyway, stop it now, I am tired of this argument :frown: Hopefully you could finally get a life at the School of Internatonal and Public Affairs...

By the way, you seem to be very impressed by those "leading auhorities in economics". But you know what, those leading authorities in economics in that school are just average standard compared to the economists at UCL Economics Department XD

Just in case you don't understand my last two sentences, go and compare the staff profiles by looking at CVs or IDEAS XD

Who am I? Someone who doesn't ask rhetorical questions that serve no other purpose than to purposely piss people off. GROW UP.

Btw, most premier econ professors (I assume you know at least two) ARE with the school of international and public affairs and they use our building. I'm asking who the F you are not to compare with me, but to point out that you're in no position to say $hit considering you aren't even all that. And if you care so much about IDEAS, then it's quite sad how even our Business School ranks higher than the UCL when it's not even a proper econ department and numbers only a fraction of your registered authors. You're an MSc student from UCL, not even a PhD are you? Like I'm really pissing my pants. And yes, I think you should have stopped a long time ago. I love how YOU start these threads then ask to stop because you're tired of arguing.

What are the premier professors you are talking about? Just list them and show me XD Just in case you don't know what the premier professors you are talking about, I give you the link XD

http://www.sipa.columbia.edu/academics/concentrations/ifep/faculty.html

Dude, you know what, if a SOAS idiot can get into such a program, one of the best graduates of the five super elite universities in the UK can also get into the program you are talking about XD I know you are pissing your pants because of the inferiority of SOAS and your a-level maths level XD

Oh, having only a-level maths is probably the reason you could only get into a second rate program witch require less or no maths XD

One thing which really makes me shocked is that SOAS teaches economics without using maths; and according to a guy doing PHD there, people can get into SOAS PhD Economics without a proper economics degree....

And tons of SOAS idiots do not even know what a lagrangian is after studying three years of economics XD

Stop the lies, http://www.soas.ac.uk/courseunits/153400121.html As you can see they do mathematics and Lagrangian function.

well you seemed to think topics like colonialism in Africa would constitute a whole "easy" course by themselves, whereas I see them as legit development economics topics, which is, after all, what SOAS seems to specialise in
I really don't think a judgement of an entire department can be made on the basis on a few books about what you see as "soft topics" anyway

Yes, you're right I see postcolonial studies, feminist studies, development and conflict as soft subjects. THAT part of your argument is correct. But, again, your verbal reasoning skills fall short. Tell me where I made a 'judgement of an entire department'. And by the way what are you studying? I think I might be on to something.
You want to try the Info Commons in Sheffield, some right nobs in there.

I'm going to take a leap of faith here and say that your judgement extended beyond a particular department to SOAS as a whole

and nice try, I don't actually go to uni, everything i know is based on various opinions and resources

Oops, according to this SOAS idiot, most premier econ professors are with the school of international and public affairs. Yet, according to the offical website, there are only two professors who are economists and all others are political scientists, business scholars or legal scholar XD

Most means over 60%, so does it means that only 2 / 60% of the econ professors at columbia are premier

I hope you can understand this simple maths

OK, so first you say I am rubbishing economics as an easy subject. I never did so, but never mind the facts.. Then you say I am rubbishing the economics department at SOAS. Again, you imagined it. Now you say I have judged SOAS as a whole to be crap. Despite the fact that I'm a student there and have praised some of its subjects. OK, thanks for this stupid conversation, which is now at an end.

Because you have no clue what a concentration actually is or how the school's programs are structured, I suggest you browse the core faculty. http://www.sipa.columbia.edu/academics/directory/browse_core_faculty.html. Anyway, this thread isn't even about me. It's now turned childish (or should I say, more childish) and I've already made my case loud and clear.

Oh and by the way, there are other skills worthwhile having other than mathematical aptitude... like correct spelling and grammar. "XD"

Occasionally, I come to the SOAS library in the evening and have the impression that SOAS students are extremely lazy. What is annoying me is that there are always some idots laughing loudly, talking loudly and even shouting in the library...

At least they can spell "weird".

You're an idiot. SOAS is full of hard-working students. There's always slackers somewhere but every university has them.

Come on, now; making a few spelling mistakes, and curious usages of grammar and punctuation, does not invalidate an argument. The two aren't connected. Somebody can say something perfectly logical but happen to misspell a word. One the other hand, somebody can say something using perfect grammar (in SE) which doesn't actually make any sense.

His argument is invalid because it's wrong, not because he writes 'werid' or 'XD'.

Joe
For a person who got into UCL i would think you'd have a little more common sense.

DO NOT GO BACK THERE
