How to name products?

if you had a chlorine attached to benzene would you name it cholorobenzene or phenylchloride

if you had an amine attached to a hexane would you name it hexylamine or 1-aminohexane

??? slightly confusing
Using the orders of precedence as laid down by IUPAC (The International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry)

You just need to learn when you use each. This page has an extensive list:
http://www.chemguide.co.uk/basicorg/conventions/names3.html

For the second one, if you have more than one functional group then you need to rank them in order of preference.
This page has more details:

Wiki FTW!
They dont have a complete list though. No mention of alkenes, alkynes, halides or nitros.
