regardless of the family, has noone ever questioned the media's fascination with benefits claimants, and their practically orgasmic reactions if they are immigrants ? Tbh what I have seen in the past 2 years + is very orwellian; creating basically 2 minutes of hate every morning by means of creating a common enemy. It is a very dangerous path, as history has taught.

secondly, whatever this family is, why are tax evaders, corrupt corporate bosses and even more corrupted politicians not subject to front page news or the artificial 2 minutes hate ? seems quite like hipocrisy to me.

So it mentioned that their 5 eldest children have moved out... but if she's 36 then they can't be that old, surely. I wonder where they've gone?

Anyway, if he can't work, then force her to get a job, and he can look after the children. Maybe he can study for some qualifications at the same time, increasing his chance of finding work once the government realise his back is fine...

My dad is unable to work because of a severe stroke a few years ago - prior to that, he was an engineer - and now my mum acts as his carer.
We can't even get our rent paid for us :s-smilie:

and I think we recieve just under 11k a year, it's gotten to the point where my 28 year old brother owns the house that we live in..
It's cases like this that really anger me because it makes everyone who claims disability etc look like a complete scrounger. People who genuinely are unable to work should be getting help, but that amount of money is obscene for the health issues he claims to have. I don't even understand how he's managing to get that much from the government :s-smilie:

It's cases like that that the benefits should be helping, not idiots like the guy in the article. I agree, he gives those who genuinely need help a bad name.

I don't know how they do it either, they probably fiddle the system somehow, or it's all in child benefits.

The bad back is also the classic excuse. I have a bad back and need physiotherapy, but I work!! I'm a hospital cleaner at the moment and it's not exactly easy on the ol' back.

It's a shame that people who NEED state help are lumped together with idiots like this who reproduce like rabbits. I (and i assume most of you) know the difference that state help can make to a person/family who cannot provide for themselves due to circumstance.
This family are surely playing the system. Why can the mother not work? Doe's she have to look after her husband due to his bad back? (even though it states he rides a motorbike). How is he managing to have sex if his back is bad?

I know my dad would absolutely love to be in work again, it's just not really possible. :/

thats the bit I don't get though - the amount of forms and evidence and proofs and doctors notes etc that are needed to claim things, we've had countless things sent back because my mum spelt something wrong or didn't provide "enough" evidence. It seems impossibly hard to fiddle the system, + child benefit is reduced the more kids you have so I can't see how it would possibly make up that much difference. Argh, I hate stories like this :tongue:

It's the local council that would be paying their rent, I think - which is ridiculous, because we can't even get a council house :s-smilie:
