Question 2) Given that 32 square root of 2= 2^a, find the value of a

I get the answer a = 11, but the mark scheme says 11/2, why would you divide it by 2? P:

You need to post your working for us to point out where you went wrong.
Is the question to solve for a:
322=2a32\sqrt 2 = 2^a?

322=25212=25+12=211232\sqrt{2}=2^52^\frac{1}{2}=2^{5+\frac{1}{2}}=2^\frac{11}{2}

Oh...

What i did was go 32x32 (to find the square root) which was 1024 x 2 (since 2 was in square root to get 2048) then i just wrote

2 x 2 x 2 .... etc. and until i got 2048 which was 11 times. but i get ya way

cause it multipling 2 and 2
