The question about eukaryotic cells...

would it be correct to say they have a nuclus and mitochondria?
Also, the last question about reliability could you write "repeat the experiment with another onion (same type), make the epidermis strips the same length and for accuracy - use equipment with smaller scale divisions"

As soon as I read the question, "differentiation" popped into my head, I still have no clue if I have even come across that word yet

It's a term commonly used in regards to stem cells. I though 'specialised', then realised that's a stupid answer. I wrote down differentiation instead thankfully.

for the adaptions of the alveolar i wrote that they have capillaries near them to maintain a rich blood supply which causes a steep diffusions gradients...thats correct, right?

Neutophil quesiton - do they have antibodies which neutralise toxins? <-- complete guess from GCSE stuff

Transpiration is the amount of water loss from the leaves over a given time?

Yep adaptations of alveoli are large surface area, thin diffusion distance, close to capillaries to deliver carbon dixoide/take oxygen. Neutrophils have lysosomes which digest the foriegn material. Transpirtation is the loss of water vapour from aerial parts of the plant. So about right

good memory! wasn't the definition question on what 'Transpiration' is?

Yep there was a question asking the name of the term for when cells specialise and the changes they make and that was differentiation. Then there was a question simply asking for a definition of transpiration.

I'm not sure if my answer was right. damn it!

it probably is all of ours probably our theres a probably a list of 5-6 answers and any 2 will do but still protein synthesis woulda been so easy to write >.<

i did growth and duplication of organelles + checking genetic information for mutations DAM forgot abt protein synthesis :/

G1 and G2 is cell growth organelle growth and protein synthesis. I think S phase is just replications and checking of DNA. I just checked text book and that is correct. I cant think what the two marks were for seeing as paper already gave DNA replication, checking was all I could think of.

Dam I spelt erythrocytes like this "eurythrocytes", will that be no mark then?

scatter graph/line graph with i fink either of the first 2 for the x-axis and %age for the y-axis.
if you did scatter u mention a line of best fit to measure the estimates tbh i did scatter graph so dno what would score marks for line im not even sure my answer for scatter graph would score me any marks hopefully someone got the same as me.

Aahh for that question i did not actually say draw a certain type of graph. NOOOOOOOOO i think you were meant to say to use the line of best fit to work it out.
MAn that is soooo annoying
man i made so many stupid mistakes :frown:

what did people for the permeability of a capillary question? :s-smilie: That was weird..

Haha i totally failed at spelling it too  I think so many people will have mis-spelt it that the examimers will just give a mark for any attempt at it  Well, i hope

Organelles replicated
ATP content is increased

You don't get the mark for saying that organelles are replicated. Came up in a previous exam and I thought the same but it specifically says reject in the mark scheme.

To get the mark for a misspelt answer it must sound the same phonetically and be the same amount of syllables as the correct answer.

yeah its growth which is key in a response with organelles

hmm yeah i think they wanted processes in g1,s and g2 phases

Wait. Isnt S phase just the small bit were chromosomes are checked and replicated? G1 and G2 is where orgnalles and cell grows and protein synthesis. That what it says in the book anyway.

Edit - sorry just saw post above,.Im sure they just asked for S phase in the question.

Which exam, since i just checked the past papers on the OCR site and see nothing of it

Organelles dont go through growth - clearly says in the book 'replicated' P:

So eurythrocytes might still get mark then?
