Official Durham Applicants Thread 2011

NatSci at collingwood.
Predicted A*A*A* in Maths, Chem, Phys.
Had 5A's at AS and I'm self teaching myself AS further maths which I'm predicted an A in.
8A*s, 3As 2Bs at GCSE.

They said they will contact me to give me a reason why I didn't get an offer. I knew when I was applying that there was very few places available for Chemistry on the NatSci course, which is what I applied for.
Doesnt make it any easier to take though really.

Out of interest, why don't you want to go to Trevs? It's a great college!

Can I ask, why do you not want to go to Trevelyan? I haven't applied there or anything so I'm not offended, I'm just curious what you know and I don't :P

Hahaha wow I've clearly offended a higher Trevs power...haha joking, um I basically am desperate to be self catering because I am a vegetarian wanting to become a vegan, which I know would be catered for but id just much rather make my own so a self catered college is basically essential. Also I would very much like an ensuite which is unlikely at Trevs and very likey at St Cuth's...also it's brown and ugly...and finally a girl from my current school who I really DO NOT GET ON WITH (literally...cannot emphasis that enough!) has been accepted into Trevs haha and it sounds stupid but oh my god I would end up murdering her. I applied to Warwick but nothing yet.. so ill most probably firm Durham!! Its great from what i've heard and seen.

Is anyone going on the Josephine Butler College open day in March? (and doing Anthropology?!)

Also, I intend to email tomorrow and ask for a proper response about why we are being rejected. I have friends who got offers last year for the same course with the same grades as me (one missed her offer and got AAB) so is it just this year or what? I seriously don't understand what else we're supposed to be able to do..

Will definitely let you know how it goes and if you hear anything could you tell me please. It's pretty gutting not hearing anything from the unis when all my mates are getting offers, some have all 5 I applied for St. Mary's, you?

Thanks, I'll see if I can add you as a friend or something (not entirely sure how this site works lol!). I went for Collingwood- it was one of the biggest (more chance!) and next to the science buildings i think.

I sent it off early October since i applied to Oxford..
So far oxford reject.. LSE reject since im doing only 3 subjects!
Conditional Offers from Bristol and Durham...
I haven't done AS ar A2 units yet.. cos in my school we do it all together...Pretty messed up!!
