Why does Falmouth Uni only ask for 220 points??

Not true at all, for Fine Art/Graphics/Illustration it's one of the top in the country.

I want to study English and creative writing, and yes I've heard for this course many writers do lectures and workshops with is great

Honestly, don't worry about this.

There are too many people on here who would have you believe that league table status is everything when choosing which university to go to, when really, the decision should be based upon whether you think you'll feel comfortable there, be able to work hard, achieve, and have a good social life

Every time I go to see my GF work in her studio I'm blown away at the sheer quality of all the work all around me! It's also really cool being able to drop in every month or so and see how everyone's progressing!

You have to be really focussed too, the amount of work you have to produce for it!

I'm trying to think if I knew anyone on that course, I have a friend from my hometown who did English and creative media (I think) and now she's gone on to be a award winning social media marketing type and has done really well for herself.

You'd be based at Tremough campus, and I haven't any experience of that apart from DJ'ing a couple shows there. The music scene is tiny, but can be fun if you're into your rave music

The prestige of universities are in a lot of cases *******s now, it's all down to experience you've gained before interview. I'm going back to uni to do a medicine degree, and the uni you go to makes not one single, slightest but of difference.

Where are your other options?

mhm I suspect because it is not very well known (I had never heard of it before) But it read some stuff about it in the last half an hour, seams to be a really nice place to do an arts subject ...
The offeris maybe so low, because it is not very well known?!
Also they might look at other stuff besides UCAS points bc. the really don't determine weather you are agood artist

It's my first choice for Graphic Design and I really hope I get in, the area just seems so lovely and appealing to me, away from London where most other top Graphic Design courses are. I take it your girlfriend is enjoying it there then?

My Gf started off on the graphics course then moved to fine art. Truth be told I think she's always been a painter at heart, but she was worried she wouldn't be up to scratch.

She did a term of graphics and felt it a bit boring. The course was good, but she is largely self taught and very competent with Adobe CS, so she was being taught things she already knew in photoshop.

I think that was the thing that made her change her course. She had to be interviewed her again with her painting portfolio, and was accepted straight away

From what I can remember of graphics, it was lectures, PS tutorials and a weekly brief. One of which was making a typeface using "Found images', looked really fun!

She is kinda enjoying it. She likes her course, but I live in London and she lives in Falmouth. (We're from the same town) so it kinda sucks. She's not the best at socialising so she feels a little isolated at times, but overall she's said she would have much rather study in Falmouth than Chelsea/Royal academy/St. Martens.

Because that guy regards any Uni that isnt Oxbridge, Warwick, LSE, UCL or Imperial as only useful as firewood.

What they ask for has very little to do with how good the uni is really.

And TSR people need to learn, a uni's overall reputation is SECOND to subject reputation.

Falmouth is superb for anything to do with arts.
Dont go there expecting a good science degree though.

It's not a redbrick university and to be honest, i'd never heard of it before.
That does not mean you won't do well and enjoy it there.

Reputation is something some people are about and others do not, and different universities excel at different subjects.

Don't worry about it, if you're keen to go there, do it.

Not everyone likes the same university, the same set up or same location.

Falmouth is not there,- Birmingham, Durham, LSE etc are and hence obtain more prestige in some people's view.
