Yeah, it does have a really good atmosphere, I found some of the other colleges to feel a bit overbearing and stuffy, but Wadham is just so relaxed and and friendly.

I don't think I was there for that, no, being a PPE'ist I'd have been the part of the first group there. so I probably left before that happened, sounds fun though! :biggrin:

And to be sure I don't offend anyone from any other colleges, I don't in any way see my first impression of your colleges as representative of what they're actually like :smile:

I completely agree- to be honest Wadham is so un-stuffy that it just emphasizes all the normal Oxfordian stuffyness at the other colleges :P

Example of something I overheard at another college:
Current student 1: Hey, how formal is the formal dinner tonight?
Current student 2: Fairly, definitely not jeans and a T shirt.
Current student 1: Oh okay. I don't think I own jeans and a T shirt...

Example of something I overheard at Wadham:
Applicant: Are some people at Oxford really boring and unsociable?
Current Student: I know there are students who only stay in their rooms and work. Definitely no-one at Wadham though!

Psych interviews were last so we probably didn't cross paths. I did know one applicant from the student room and spent pretty much the entire time trying to find them in real life. And then finally did, on the last day, by which time everyone had decided they were actually a 50 year old paedophile, so it was really satisfying to know they were real :cool:

Love it. Especially the part where you must be a minimum of 17, so most paedophiles probably wouldn't find you all that appealing.

just to make people in the UK jealous- I came in to work today wearing shorts and flip-flops.

That being said, under nearly every circumstance, I would pick Oxford over UCLA. UCLA has huge classes that are going to get larger and much less money per student.

With California being broke, more cuts are coming for UC schools. They have cut back so much,I have friends who couldn't even take the required classes to graduate within 4 years.

Sometimes it's shocking to see how some people are misguided by the relevance of GCSEs. Come on, I really don't think they would throw your application right in the bin if you have A*AA and half-decent GCSEs.

GCSES: A*A*AAAABBCCDD
As Levels: History, Politics, English, Psychology (dropping politics)

Just did exams today, probably having to resit Politics for an A due to lack of revision.

But feel like a fresh start is about to happen and encouraged by history and psychology exams.

I go to a sixth form college in Leeds.

Have I got any chance, at all of getting an offer in the hypothetical situation I do well on LNAT and have a very good personal statement..

Please be blunt.

As others have said, you'd have a chance, but no-one can really tell you how good that chance is. But if you think you'll do well on the LNAT you might as well give it a go.

Having said that, though, I'd still be wary of 'getting inspired' by other people's offers. You have to bear in mind that most of the time you know nothing about those people: even if they've got exactly the same GCSE and AS grades as you, you don't know how theirs came about, and of course you don't know how strong their written work / pre-interview test / interview performance were. Although it may seem that way, people don't actually get offers because of (or in spite of) their grades.

Oh, we always wear shorts and flip-flops over here, regardless of weather :smile:

For info, cos I noticed on another thread that you will soon be matriculating at Oxford, shorts and flip-flops, worn in combination with ripped T-Shirt and baseball cap, is known here as 'sub fusc'

Yeah, Wadham. Feels strange being rellocated there, given I have slight conservative leanings and a certain weakness for formal clothing, bizarre traditions and the 'Oxfordian stuffiness'. :O

But on the upside, there's Wadstock :biggrin:

May not be the perfect occasion to wear a bow tie, but if there's any chance of some good blues and rock going on, I'm up for it.
