Thanks! Well I went on Track about an hour or so ago and there it was. I saw it there before Ucas even sent the e-mail to tell me! Cracking out the ol' alcohol to celebriate

I think I love you, you just made me check my UCAS. I also have an offer from Nottingham AAA.
Anyone else have offers from University of Reading? Seems most of you are hiding somewhere....

Durham is the best of those 3. Nothing to feel down about.

UCL- Rejection
KCL - Rejection
LSE- Rejection
Uni of Sheff- Unconditional
Queen Mary- Unconditional.

Not sure which to chose out of Queen Mary and Sheffield? Which has best job prospects etc.

Or reapply next year to Durham, Warwick, Bristol etc.

I'd personally go to QMUL. Do you really want to pay £9K?

If your Asian I would go to Queen Marry, otherwise Sheffield.
Somewhat off topic, but I was reading a few back-issues of the NLJ that I missed due to January exams. Whilst reading, I noticed an interesting article with regards to legal education. I knew we had a considerable surplus of Law graduates per head of the population but the article highlighted important issues with regards to the flexibility provided by the introduction of Alternative Business Structures, the vastly non-restricted nature of work allowing paralegals to contribute a great deal more in the future, the anachronistic nature of the training mechanisms, etc.

Whilst I’m studying Law due to my love for the subject rather than financial incentives, this has me a tad worried. In addition, the issue of other nations beginning to truly specialise in alternative dispute resolution; the possibility of banks re-domiciling; the possibility of pan-EU contract regulations causing clients to shift to alternative Common Law systems; the contraction of legal aid and lack of appetite for things like before-the-event legal expenses insurance; and innumerable other issues have me a wee bit concerned about future prospects.

Naturally, every market is suffering/has suffered as a result of the financial crisis and these could be viewed as minor issues given the diverse, adaptable, world-class nature of UK legal services but I like to get other views. As a result, may I ask if anyone else feels something similar this? Or am I simply being paranoid over media conjecture? Is this the relative 'silence' before the storm, or would any storm be inside of a tea-cup?

Of course, it must be stated that I don’t actually care very much about career prospects as I’m principally interested in studying Law for the academic stimulation and have rather diverse career ideas beyond graduation. Please don’t think I’m only interested in money and the City (not that there's anything wrong with such aspirations).

Does anyone know exactly how much longer UCL will be dragging out the waiting process, and has anyone been invited for the interviews they sometimes threaten applicants with? I don't actually intend to take up an offer if they give me one, I'd just really like to know :P

Cambridge BA - A*AA
Durham LLB - AAA
Leicester LLB - AAA (but 'haven't ever turned down' AAB)
UEA LLB with ELS - AAB
Just waiting on UCL now...! LNAT of 27.

Also, am thinking of firming Cambridge insuring Durham...anyone think this is a hugely stupid idea? (Predicted A*A*A*)

LNAT of 27? i'm pretty sure you will get an offer 0_o and apparently it could take until the end of march D:

Yes. It is a hugely stupid idea.

Which college is your offer from?

edit: misread. No, that's sensible  UCL and Durham are at a similar enough level that if you like one more than the other, you should just go with the one you like best.

Bias aside I would pick QM.

Reapplication: depends on what you want to do. If you want to work at the bar or at an MC firm, I'd reapply. If not, go for QMUL.

Thanks! I'm slightly concerned that they might not have received my results after someone said KCL hadn't received theirs...but it is also atrocious how long they make people wait before receiving a reply! I mean I submitted my application early October...surely it can't take almost 6 months to read through that?! Even Durham, who are sometimes notorious for being slow, responded by mid-November....

Everything I read about QMUL says that going there makes it almost impossible to get a training contract though and somewhere like Sheffield would be better for that. Very confused.

Fitz at Cam, Chad's at Durham. Almost sad I'm not going to Chad's now, I ADORE it! But obviously I'd regret it forever if I didn't at least try and go for Cam! Much prefer Durham to UCL, even though the teaching's probably not as good, employment prospects are at least as good, living is cheaper and nicer, nice collegiate atmosphere....
