I think the mountaineering society covers rock climbing and hiking. I love hiking, but do not like rock climbing because i have a fear of heights, so climbing a vertical cliff or absailing down would not be pleasent. Strange really as i am 6*4 though.

Maybe! :P I'll have to brush up on my argument terms (ad hominem, non sequitor etc) so I can discredit people

You coulalways do rock climbing to try and get over your fear of heights. I know a coupld of people who have tried that, they're not completely over their fear but they can go much higher now
You never know might see you if I join the group.

It's not so much the actual climbing that would bother me, but more the absail down and also the though that there is only a harness between me and a broken neck.

I've never been in a debate club before, so i will have to learn all that stuff. I am apparently quite convincing though.
Sociology, Theology & Religious Studies yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay  !!!

I'm thinking the Boxercise, Yoga and Cross Country Societies look pretty sick! I'll probs just join all the fun ones

there should totally be a Glee society!!! :colondollar:

The cross country society does look brilliant, however with only seven days in a week, an extra club would be too much.

Anybody still waiting for an offer? Very annoying now.

Gotta have faith in your gear. Most gear is rated to take a 22KN static load.. so unless you can put a 2.2 tonne shock load on a piece of gear, its rather unlikely itll break. If you're doing trad however, this completely depends on your gear placement rather than just relying on fixed belay points.

Ive been climbing since i was 14, never seen someone fall from abseiling. Worst thing i saw was when my mate was leading a new face near home and fell about 2m above his last clip and ripped two pieces of gear straight out of the rock (two nuts) and it was only his last cam which stopped him. Surprised that shock load held up. But trad is completely different to sport/indoors.
has anyone received conditional offers from leeds for the ba communications course i have all of my others bar leeds

HOLY ****. Really? I really wanna have a go at rock climbing, I love extreme sports, well I love the look of them. Only ever done rock climbing once and loved it. There's loads I wanna do.
I wanna sing, horse riding, rock climbing, archery, caving, sky diving (not too sure whether or not this is a club), sub aqua, but alas there are not a lot of days in the week so will have to see what catches my eye on freshers week lol.

This is precisely what I'm thinking. The look of extreme sports makes me want to at least give them a go, all of them! :colone:
