So yes.
This might seem like an obvious thing to ask but you're sure you've unzipped the whole contents of hack4legend-v5.zip into the tools directory?

Yeah, unzipped.

It appears I have to root HBOOT too. :colonhash:
isit true that bbm is coming to androids and iphones
I have no idea what I'm needing to do now - do I need downgrade or root HBOOT? :s-smilie:

Unconfirmed as far as I'm aware.

My bet is that it will happen and RIM will eventually release an Android handset.

None as yet, theres so many ways of doing things, I'm downloading a RUU to downgrade before rooting. :s-smilie:

Do you have HTC Sync installed?

EDIT: I thought you had a Legend...

Yes. How does that even help anyway?

Yeah I do, but I'm looking at different guides anyway...
Original post by G8D
HTC Sync is required to install via RUU.

Just to clarify: you are not trying to run a Hero RUU to update the Legend... Right?

Oh thank ****. :p:

I can't help you directly I'm afraid as I've only rooted the Hero and hacked the HD2. However have you considered making a thread at XDA?

Also rooting HBOOT:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=894465
And general rooting guide:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=746454

Yup, you'll find me over here.

Anyone know which component of the system stores messages? I'm trying to avoid having to restore everything after a clean install and but I can't find what to restore?
Making progress. :awesome:

Downgrade in progress. :woo:

The guides over at XDA are utter garbage tbh - these instructions are the ones I wanted. http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-legend-legend-modaco-com/307487/24-may-r4-htc-legend-rooting-guide-now-with-1-31-x/

Edit:
Custom ROM loading. **** yeah. :u:
(edited 13 years ago)
C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools>adb remount
remount succeeded

C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools>adb shell rm -f /system/app/com.htc.TwitterWidget.apk
rm failed for -f, Read-only file system

Can you not just enable USB debugging?
You can also delete using Titanium Backup/Root Explorer/System App Remover from the Market.

I have done, don't seem to work for me. Lemme try again...

Titanium Backup couldn't grant SU access. (I have the SU app).
Root Explorer/System App Remover aren't free.

Edit:
No I can't.

You googled Blackdroid yet?

(you really should have superuser access if you are running a custom ROM)

Just did, not sure why so special though.

I should, but I've managed to do what I've wanted, so I'm happy.

RIM would be taking a big gamble with that. Blackberry's only USP now is BBM. Porting this capability to Android and iPhone would render their handset range redundant, leaving RIM to only take perhaps a small monthly subscription.

BBM isn't even that good - I mean, it's just a fusion between Email, SMS and IM; all of which are available on every other smartphone platform.
