Surely the people trying to sell those international sim card thingies are more annoying as they jump out as you, assuming you're an international student and will thus want to make lots of international phone calls. Even when you just walked past about 15 mins ago =.=

One of them did and stank and goes to "you speak"? I look at them "wtf" and in my weird very heavy and broad Scouse accent "NO!". They are bloody annoying. Who are these people?

To be honest I don't think they are as bad as the beggars in Paris (especially near/under the Eiffel Tower) who just shout in your face and follow you about. Oh and they also looked like most of their teeth were made from gold and their clothes didn't even look too shabby, in fact they looked pretty new...


I seen the Parisian beggars. The police escorted them somewhere. I suppose your right but still the beggars just on Oxford Road are trouble.

Begging has little to do with homelessness. It's not the primary motivation - a common misconception though. Very few people who beg are actually street homeless.

Again, maybe think about why some people don't seek or accept the help that is offered.


What is there primary motivation then?
I fail to see how anyone with children in this country could need to beg.
Do they have access to the same services as everyone else. I'd like to think no-one would choose to beg because it's so humiliating, but I have heard that some ordinary people with normal jobs do it in their spare time to supplement their income.

There is always one near Piccadilly Station who sits there rocking back and forth and saying have a nice day; I feel slightly sorry for him :frown: (But I never give him money)

No recourse to public funds is one of many possible reasons.

In other cases, drug and alcohol dependency is the leading motivation (but that's an entirely different thread for another day). :smile:

I havent came into contact with these particular women,but have came into contact with beggars before,we get a few here too.I feel really guilty when I walk past them,but once gave money and they asked for more,and if I had any ciggies.But I still feel that way nonetheless.

Haha yeah I know the guy you're talking about. I might give him a couple of quid next time I go past for being so polite.

I hate them. All the time, just causing a nuisance. You want to walk to university, they randomly appear "please change" or they have that cardboard thing. I walk past them and ignore them- but it is so hard.

Just cos I have a brown face - does not mean I am nice or kind or willing to part with my money. If anything, I add to the stereotype of being uptight.

I remember giving them 30p once, they were asking for more- the ungrateful swines. They wear the headscarves and it is so obvious that they are not distinctly muslim.



This happens in Eid in London Central Mosque, you get all these women wearing headscarves outside the entrance of the mosque begging for change, one tried to use her baby to get sympathy once.

I gave a begger a £5 note once.He ran into tescos and came out with a bottle of wine and drained it in a few seconds.He looked up at me and cupped his hands as beggers do asking for more money so he could get himself even more drunk or buy drugs or cigarets.I slapped him around that dirty little face and walked on.The cheak of some people.

Look i am sorry if you are a tramp or whatever you want to call it but don't go wasteing money on stuff that could in time kill you.I try to help but its not worth it.Its their life and they made that discisson.So TRAMPS NO MORE MONEY FROM ME:mad::angry::eek:

We have them here aswell in West Yorskhire around Leeds and Bradford. Once I even saw them walk into a takeaway and demand free food just after they had been begging on the streets.

Female beggars are so much harder to pass by than males. Often it is hard to think of the person behind the unfortunate situation, ever thought about just sparing them some change? Or maybe just donate to a homeless charity to cleanse your conscience and ignore them.
"they don't look muslim". Wtf how can they not look muslim?
The beggars were last seen today- picadilly plaza in front Quality Save, and Tesco Express, Cow

Yeah, there are loads.
I've not seen the leg man but I've seen a woman with an artificial leg that she sticks out...
I just don't like it when they send their kids up to you...
