The way that societies work now means that the ones with the power are: jismith1989, Peanut42, RedDragon, The Lyceum

Sorry :colone:
Kai su, teknon?

A revolt! Be gone with you, you slimy pseudo-Nero! I shall wrestle you in blood and sand for these lands of mine.

Also, out of more technical curiosity, how did you manage to associate this thread with the society page? Do you have henchmen in high places? Fifth columnists after my guts?

Oh, I see. It has swiftly been removed, order restored, crisis averted. Let's have this bugger thrown into the Tiber!

I hate to break it to you but the original thread will eventually be closed. You wanna hang onto to power you've got to have initiative, maybe it's time for new blood :teehee:

You're still the soc leader, I'm pretty sure you have to give that up/be forced to by a mod.
Positives and negatives of Tiberius please, with exact sources if possible :P

Have you tried typing his name/key words of the essay into your library's search engine or JSTOR? We can't write the essay for you, we could feed you false info and get you a bad grade or worse.
I have trouble, despite my authoritas, in allowing new members to join etc, how do I do it?

Also, only one essay left! It's psychotically hard though...bah. Time for pizza and girlfriend.

I think you just tick the box or something? I should know, I technically run a society or two :erm:

I am bored of the First Triumvirate. Boo.

Try source books on the era he's from, they're a life saver. Also, when a modern historian references an ancient source, go to the ancient source and use that instead.

As much as wikipedia is frowned upon, try the historiography here. But make sure you check the ancient source on, say perseus before you reference it!

Auctoritas, don't you mean? Don't be speaking Latinglish!

Well, we don't have any members to accept at the moment, but when we do, I'll try to explain and let you accept them.

As I said, it's not my specialist subject, but I'll happily help once you've got some sources together and are thinking of how to work them all together.

Anyway, after careful consideration, I now accept the jurisdiction of this thread. That's a shame, I was looking forward to a good brawl.
But can you please edit the first post, BB Theory, so that it includes a link for new members to join up.

Ah I see also Tiberius lady, didn't I already help you before?

Right it's pretty straight forward:

Primary Sources
Suetonius (negative)
Tacitus Histories (negative, elements of Domitians character retrojected onto Tiberius)
whatever you can get of Valerius Paterculus (overwhelmingly positive)
and the usual suspects, elements in Cassius Dio, etc.

Then just get a good secondary source, like Scullard or Alston and a biography or something.

Bloody Scullard, some of the things he says in his Pompey chapter (Gracchi to Nero) make no sense on a basic English level. Or at least to my coffee-deprived mind.

Speak nicely to a mod and they might make you the OP :colone::

I should probably stop playing devil's advocate :colone:

Is this the new thread? *creeps in from behind the curtain* ALL HAIL NEW THREAD!

Aaaanyway, I'm going to take a module outside of Classics next year -before you all burn me at the stake, or perhaps more aptly BURY ME ALIVE... well not technically apt, since I am not a guardian of any flame as far as I'm aware... I digress...

French, Italian or something else?

My French is A-Level + standard; my Italian is beginners' but I have many languages under the proverbial belt!

Also on a helpful-ish note, I'm doing two separate modules on Suetonius. WOO!
