Thanks for the tips I am looking to branch out from landscapes to wildlife! I can look at that photo everyday as it's my screensaver for my laptop. I am seriously really impressed-ever thought of entering competitions professionally!. I am certain National Geographic Magazine do one. :smile:

No problem! :-) Take a look at a forum called talkphotography people on there are really nice, they've given me so much advice on how to take pictures of birds and animals. I couldn't think of anything other than taking pictures of Wildlife i find there is SO much satisfaction of taking a picture of something which is really really hard! :smile:

... I'm hopefully soon going to take pictures of the Marine Wildlife (Practical open water test on Saturday and Sunday! ahh!).

Thought about it but ive never entered because they cost money (some of them) and i wouldn't win, :rolleyes:

Just got back from laying some flowers on my great-grandmas grave.. she would've been 100 today! I put these flowers on, and the light was shining down on them nicely through the trees...it's taken on my iphone 4.

I think this thread has actually made me realize just how much I value a photo and its ability to capture a whole moment of feelings. The first two are just pictures I took when I was out and about with my cheap digital camera. As for the last two, I doubt anybody looking at these pictures will understand what I am talking about, or even be able to discern whether it is a 'nice' photograph or not, but to me, they are some of the best I have taken purely because of what emotions I was experiencing at the time. the last picture is taken in the Lake District (around Buttermere)
the picture with the boats was just made black and white first and then I increased the contrast a lot, brought up the blacks, increased the fill light a bit all through Lightroom editing the photo taken as a DNG
