That would be like banning a certain type of music, so no.

It would be impossible to ban them anyway, because it's such an established genre.

Hey people, my media coursework basically involves me creating a magazine or newspaper article. I'm choosing to go with a Guardian style 'comment and debate' section, focusing on whether or not horror films should be banned. If you lovely people could give me some outside opinion on this matter, it would be greatly appreciated. <3

Horror movies are pointless and absolutely boring. Waste of time and money.
That's my opinion. NEVER been interested in horror movies. Don't know what the 'hype' is about them. >_>

I don't think it would work. They've banned the occasional film before and it just ends up getting a cult status and people become more desperate to watch it.

Define horror?

Then also justify the reasons for censorship

I can't really think of any positives for banning horror films... Maybe it can promote violence or sick behaviour? Hmm
You need to make a distinction between what they call torture-porn and black comedy slashers and such.

Nope no way, there is no reason at all.

Anyone pointing to it promotes violence then that would mean action movies and thrillers and shows such as CSI should go too, which again i disagree with.

Horror movies are loved by some people just as romance and sci-fi......... it is what it is; a genre for entertainment, some people are entertained by explosions and fast cars, by jokes and shenanigans others by monsters and creatures.
lol... why do people always try and prescribe what people can like or dislike? or try to mould everything to suit their tastes and outlook?
No!! and people shouldnt complain about them either, if you like them then you like them so go watch them and if you dont then dont go and watch them. Simple as that.

Oh dear god no. That was two hours of my life I would never get back. Bad film, shoo!

I will raise you on the fear factor....I was trapped in the cinema on a surprise date with a girl who kept telling how much she'd told her dad about me and how I should see her apartment.....awkward!

Hahaha. Nope. Didn't bother to watch them even once. When I was living with friends last year, we had many movies. Even some SAW movies. Watched nearly 90% of the movies we had, some even 2 times, or even, 3... certain ones I pushed it to 6-8+ xD. But didn't attempt to watch any horror movies. Watched thrillers like Zodiac and stuff. That's about it. I find horror movies boring.

=P It won't. Trust me. I've heard a lot about it, what happens, what sort of scenes it has. And all I can relate to it is 'Lame, waste of time'. It won't 'convert me'. xD

Are you mad?? How else will guys like me be able to make my move on a Girl in a cinema whose terrified of the movie!!

Think of the effect on the BIRTH RATE!! if anything we need more children. So we should encourage more Horror films. I can conclude....

the quantity of Horror films are propotional to the birth rate in the UK
