Grade Calculator For BTEC National Diploma Courses

UPDATE 11/09

Hey guys! As many people requested it, I took the time to update (well, entirely recoded and redesign) my grade calculator so it can be used with the new marking system.

It is currently working for all LEVEL 3 BTEC qualifications (Certificate, Subsidiary Diploma, Diploma and Extended Diploma) and I will, in time, include all the other levels if there is a demand for it

Please do give me feedbacks either here or on the page itself, it would really help me out so I can make it better.

Bare in mind that as I no longer taking a BTEC course (its has been 2years now), I am not 100% sure that the given grade is correct. I would greatly appreciate it if people could double check the results for me

The link is still the same http://www.speedking.eu/grade-calculator/

go nuts =)

Ps: If my tool helped you and you are feeling like giving back with only one click, do consider visiting one of the adverts on the right hand side of the webpage

Hi,

I have developed a grade calculator for BTEC National Diploma courses.
It will give you your BTEC Overall Grade (Pass/Merit/Distinction), The BTEC total points, and the UCAS points you would get.
It was originally designed for the It Practitioner degree but it WILL work for any 18-units BTEC course.

Thank you for reading

Hi!

This is a great program!! It really helped me out so BIG thanks!

I am a BTEC National Diploma for IT Practitioners student, in my final year and wanted to calculate my points, I am predicted DDD, but was afraid that my overall grade would be badly effected if I got one P for a unit.

This confirms it and all will be fine!!

Thanks sooo much!!!

You're welcome, glad it helped at least 1 person ^^
I already have my results as I did a Btec a few years back and just checked them against this and I can happily confirm that it does work

What a brilliant tool. 6 distinctions and 12 merits will do.
Ppl check what grade you get with that, the btec points 252 is the boundary for DDD.
The BTEC course is very good, to get DDD, all you need is 6 distinctions.

If you got 12 Ds and 6 Ps or or8 Ds, 8 Ms, and 2 P's or 9 Ds, 7 Ms, and 2 Ps or 12Ds, 2M, 4Ps you would have DDD with 252 pts.

Im pretty sure youre wrong, for me it says MMP is 200 Ucas points with MMM being 240 and DMM is 280

Just so you know, this doesn't work for people doing children's care, learning and development! I think it might be because the units have different GLD's so are worth different amount of points.
very clever thing to have made however i wish it was for health and social care
Reply 12
you are right BWalker a person would need 7 Ds and 11M to get DDD.

BWlaker you refurrng to the UCASa points the 252 is BTEC.

Forgot to mention that your grade calculator did help very much!

DDM

5 more Merits and 3 more Distinctions should do it. Or 5 more Distinctions and 3 more Merits, whichever way still counts

I have been so worried that I won't be able to get into university without knowing what I am already achieving with my BTEC :s-smilie: If it weren't for you and your grade calculator I would've been screwed! :sadnod:

Is this calculator 100% legit?

I don't want to be thinking I'm on the right lines for working towards an overall grade and not be.
I've tried to work it out using the UCAS tariff but it's useless as I can't find where it says what points you get for each module. It's just overall DDD, DDM etc...

3.2.4 Grading
Passing the qualification
There is no explicit lower grade boundary for a pass grade; to pass the qualification at any grade, all units required by the rule of combination must be passed
Qualification grades
Learners will be awarded a pass, merit, distinction or distinction* qualification grade (or combination of these grades appropriate to the qualification) by the aggregation of points gained through the successful achievement of individual units. The number of points available is dependent on the unit level and grade achieved, and the credit size of the unit (as shown in the ‘points available for credits achieved at different QCF Levels and unit grades’ below). The number of points scored per credit at the unit level and grade are shown at T able 7.
Table 7: Edexcel BTEC points per credit and unit grades
Unit QCF level Pass=Level2: 5 Level3:7 Level4:9 Merit= Level2:6 Level3:8 Level4:10 Distinction=Level2:7 Level3:9 Level3:9
4.2 Size
BTEC Nationals (NQF) qualifications are available in three sizes:
National Award National Certificate National Diploma
6 units 360 GLH
12 units 720 GLH
18 units 1080 GLH
Table 17: Edexcel BTEC NQF unit points
