We were taught the 'scientific' stuff in year 7 - but IMO, I was too young to understand properly at that age.
We also got taught about contraception in year 10 - which I think is about the right time. We got shown how to use condoms and there was a bit of talk about the female condom and the coil - but that's all I can remember that we were taught.
Most things I've learnt are from friends, my own experiences and the internet (no, not porn). School helped a little bit - but I feel that it could have been better - especially as the teacher who taught us about contraception was an ICT teacher - not a proper Personal Development teacher.
