What is CRB?

I had my first CRB done in September because I was working in a Cathedral School and might occasionally come across a child...they were extremely helpful in doing it and told me to email them relevant details and they filled it in :smile:

'They'? Did the police find the stolen laptop themselves, and check it? If so, what has it got to do with the CRB check?

A few months before I had my first ever CRB check, a panorama programme reported on all of the mistakes on the CRB database. This poor guy had his laptop stolen and someone uploaded child porn on it before he got it back. The victim thought he was cleared of all of the images, but when he applied for a CRB check for his new job, the database had recorded that he was charged in possession of child porn. Upon chasing this up, he found that the courts had cleared him of 99% of the child porn but couldn't be certain that he hadn't downloaded the remaining1%. His now can't apply for certain jobs and it's costing him thousands of pounds in legal help...

I assume they searched it before they returned the laptop. That wasn't the point of the documentary so it probably didn't comment on it.

If you don't want people finding out about your child porn, stop shouting about it all over the internet:rolleyes:

Nah but in all seriousness I was just curious. The way the post was worded made it sound like the police check your internet history when they run a CRB check (obviously I don't believe they do.).

then you can claim as a victim...but the CRB check will still be clean.....
shows your criminal history
i had mines done for ST Johns Ambulance and a children's hospice and they both came back in 3-5 weeks

it will...

its magic paper....it can do what it wants, and as long as you don't do anything illegal, it will stay clean
