FOR PEOPLE WITH ATLEAST 4 A's at AL

Lets get into discussion:

1. Do you sleep after college or crack on with your work?

2. How many hours of sleep do you get per day (PS: for people with all A's :s-smilie: )

3. How do you cope with sleepiness during the day?

4. Can you study ("get good grades" :s-smilie: ) hard and YET BE SOCIAL ?

5. At what time do you go to bed and rise in the morning?

ITS A MATTER OF BALANCING LIFE, lets discuss and perhaps this may help people manage time effectively.

If you are please high gainers (like 98% for AS exams!) contribute HOW YOU MANAGE TIME and whether YOU ARE SOCIAL and HOW YOU ACHIEVED THAT.

Dont be a sheep and follow what A graders do, do what works for you..

1. Do you sleep after college or crack on with your work? I mostly used to chill out until tea time, sometimes I'd take a nap when I was very tired.

2. How many hours of sleep do you get per day (PS: for people with all A's ) used to get about 7-8 when I was doing A levels

3. How do you cope with sleepiness during the day? I didn't have as much of a problem then as I do now. I just used to get on with it though.

4. Can you study ("get good grades" ) hard and YET BE SOCIAL ? yes - how many people can honestly say you work on friday/saturday nights? If you don't work then it is possible to have a social life.

5. At what time do you go to bed and rise in the morning? During A levels...in bed between midnight and 2am, up at about 8.

What is this obsession with having exact timing for sleep, socialising, working etc.?

I completely understand, and would encourage, time management but if you can't adapt to a change in your daily routine, you're going to struggle when you get to uni and beyond.

Do not sacrifice social/extra curricular activities for the sake of working all hours- you will eventually go insane!

well im on target for A*A*A*A*A* at a level in maths, fmaths, physics, chemistry and general studies and i have one of the A*s already in maths.

i normally hang out with my mates after college until 6, get the bus home, eat tea then doss about and sometimes see my mate

usually about 6 hours of sleep a night.

im always tired but i just get on with it. if i can do the work in lessons then il only need to do a day or two of work to remind myself of things before the exams because i understand it. il usually spend a day or two before each exam just memorising wordy thigns (like physics and chem definitions) and doing practice papers

im going out tonight, went out last friday, went the thursday before, have seen my mates every weekend... so yes, you can.

earliest i go to bed is around 12 and i get up at 6.45 (i take a while to get to sleep, normally)

edit: thinking about it, the only time i do work is in my frees at college and on a wednesday afternoon when i finish at 12:30 and have to wait at college until 4 because of the ****ty buses to my village

4 A's at AS (see profile for details):

1. Do any serious work on weekends, the odd hour in week, sleep at night.

2. 6 hours on a good night.

3. Power nap then bang seven gram rocks.

4. No. I roll in one gear; Work.

5. I don't sleep mutha****a! 00:00 - 07:00
1. Do you sleep after college or crack on with your work?

Usually sit back for a bit, play some Xbox/watch some TV and do whatever homework I need to do. If i'm nearing the last month to 2 months before exam I'll be doing a few hours of revision every other day too.

2. How many hours of sleep do you get per day (PS: for people with all A's )

Around 7-8.5

3. How do you cope with sleepiness during the day?

Try and be positive and happy, I'm very boisterous so I get round that quite easily

4. Can you study ("get good grades" ) hard and YET BE SOCIAL ?

I go out on nights, go to parties and mates' houses, play pool during free periods etc and study enough when I need to.

5. At what time do you go to bed and rise in the morning?

Go to bed around half 10 till 12ish (not due to work, just on facebook or watching tv or whatever - nearing exam time I'll go to bed at like 1-2 sometimes hardcore revision (with just 1-2 weeks until exam). Always wake up between half 6 and 7, more like 7-8ish on a weekend.

I am very much a late starter cramming in loads of work and don't do consistent amounts of work. While I have a short attention span I'm very motivated so I can revise for 6-8 hours in one day (during holiday/study leave) and take it all in if need be.

And I'm currently on 5As in Maths, Further, Chemistry, Biology and Physics if that means anything to you

1. Don't sleep, nor do I crack on straightaway.

2. About 5-7 when I have no exams for at least 8 weeks. When exams are coming up- 8 weeks or less- I get, or aim to get about 8-9.

3. Tiredly; I think sleep is vital to grades tbh

4. yes....

5. When I have no exams coming up, like I said above, about 1-2 am and get up at 8am.

I distribute my work to a hum so I can take it steady. If not, I work hard and play hard. I try to constantly think, review, analyse and revisit the things that were said and noted in the class I just walked out of. I get myself fired up thinking critically about how much more could have been developed and said, or how the information could be organised into a certain flow. Sometimes I pre-empt the kinds of exam questions that can be made from the material given. Because this all sort of happens in my head, I have achieved a record of doing very little crunch study and being very good at examinations. It's all about being prepared. I have treated course material as replacements for the London Evening Standard because it's actually more interesting anyway. I write down every thought I get in the margins - when I revise I feel happy when I notice I had written the same thought.

I get lots of sleep, but I have insomnia.

I don't have sleepiness during the day - my mind is always very alert, somehow. Physically always tired. Class makes me very happy, but my physical fatigue makes me down. I've been told I walk very slowly...

I was social and had excellent grades in my previous college, but the change in environment and culture has made me less interested in heading out. Not that I'm not sociable, just burning my free time with other things. Nonetheless, having no social life doesn't ensure time is spent wisely on studying either.

I go to bed at any time after 2am (this means even till 6am...) and still wake up without fail at 8am.

I had 5 A's for A levels (Singapore-Cambridge A levels, equivalent to AS levels and a year of foundation), all in one sitting in 2009.

How can you not have a social life? A social life doesn't exist, its simply made up to create differences within society.

stop talking ****, seriously.

if op wants to know if they spend less time conforming to the constructed norms of our society and kidding themselves that they have some sort of "social life", let them.

1. Do you sleep after college or crack on with your work?
Work, I don't sleep at night if I take naps during the day.

2. How many hours of sleep do you get per day (PS: for people with all A's :s-smilie: )
8ish

3. How do you cope with sleepiness during the day?
Have water with me all day, drinking water keeps me more awake. And making sure I have lunch, even if I'm busy, because otherwise you just get drained by about 3 and then can't focus on lessons.

4. Can you study ("get good grades" :s-smilie: ) hard and YET BE SOCIAL ?
I got 4 As at AS, slept normally and still had a good time with my friends - I don't work in all my frees, sometimes we would just go to town for a bit or sit and chat because we needed some down time, and I would be out at least one evening a week, normally a weeknight and then Sunday just doing whatever, again just for a break - working solidly makes it much more difficult to stay motivated!

5. At what time do you go to bed and rise in the morning?
Go to bed between 10 and 10.30 depending on how tired I am and how much work I've got, at get up at 6.30 or 7 depending on the day.

ITS A MATTER OF BALANCING LIFE, lets discuss and perhaps this may help people manage time effectively.

Also worth mentioning that I have music practice to fit in alongside this - so I was doing a couple of hours practice a day, school work/revision and socialising in last May/June and still came out with As.

I think there is a lot of truth in "if you want something done ask a busy person" - I get a lot more done when I have a lot to do than if I only have a bit because I know that if I don't do it RIGHT NOW it won't get done at all, whereas if I don't have much I keep putting it off and it never gets finished.

I'm busy, yes, and get tired, but I really enjoy everything I do

Errrm I got AAAB at AS (B being in biology that was 2 UMS off an A although I'd lost intrest in it completely by the summer) for me it was more about just reading through revision guides mostly if I had nothing else going on ir getting out a maths past paper nothing groundbreaking and to be fair it doesn't need to be if you look at your specification for one exam (for science anyway) there isnt an awful lot you need to know once you break it down and after you know the stuff the next most important thing is just figuring out how to answer questions correctly.

1. watch tv / do work

2. roughly 8

3. I don't get sleepy in the day

4. definitely yes

5. 10:30 to 6:45

I got all As at AS and didnt have to compromise my sleeping patterns or anything of the sort, you dont have to go mad with revision, just make sure you do enough work (an hour a night roughly) to keep on top of your courses and then really focus and crack down on work just before and during study leave.
1) Neither, I'd go to Starbucks for an hour then head home to watch TV and play on my iPhone
2) 4 hours on average
3) Frappuccinos
4) It depends, some people need to study more than others to get the same grades
5) Go to bed: 3-4am, wake up: 7am
