I can't be the only one who finds this really annoying and rude

It really pisses me off in lectures. Partly the constant tapping noise from people sat next to me and just the fact that surely they can just wait until after the lecture unless its urgent. You're paying to be here!

My housemate just can't tear himself away from his facebook chat/msn/texts at any time of day. At any one time his phone or laptop is dinging away with the annoying fb chat/msn tones or vibrating with texts. He leaves his msn and FB's on 24/7.
I proper don't get it, I couldn't do that! I need space!

he still has MSN? finish him!
I carry my phone with me all the time when I'm out, usually in case of emergencies D:

But if ever any of the people I was with went to the toilet or anything like that I'd get my mobile phone out so I wouldn't look like a 'loner' xD

my friend actually carries around her phone charger in her handbag in case the battery dies..

charge her for electricity the tight cow!

just so she don't have to use her own at home.

stick talc on your hand, make sure it covers the whole of your palm. Then slap her full force right across the face!

It does annoy me. One of my friends is permanently on her Blackberry. The thing is, one someone gets their phone out, everyone else does, 'coz there's a lull in the conversation whilst that person's busy, so you think you may as well check your phone.

I only have my phone out in case my mum or brother rings or texts and I need to reply, I wouldn't socially text whilst with mates.

finish him as in 'beat the hell out of him'

at least you have moved with technology. what a lovely young woman!
It is pretty annoying.Yesterday for example,me and a friend were on the bus and I was talking o her and then I asked her a question(she was on her mobile texting) and she ignored me until she had finished then asked what I said. She did this like three times before I gave up talking. She has a blackberry and is on it nearly all the time.Grrr.

My younger sister does this a lot, it really irates me and it is so rude and inconsiderate. When someone is talking to you they should have your undivided attention. I hate mobile phones though, I abhor having to have one.

I know a girl who's like that. She's constantly texting to the point where she won't even join in with conversations, and then gets angry when the rest of us give up trying to include her. It's like she assumes that just hanging around with people makes her a part of a social group, so she doesn't bother to actually interact. It's so damn annoying!
I hate it that my brother always does this when his with my parents and grandparents, find it very disrespectful.

A couple of my friends do it too, particularly one uni friend who will interrupt what he is saying for about 30 secs out of every minute to text his gf, or best friend from home. Makes you feel like he's not really with you, just filling the time between contact with them. Sometimes I just walk off when hes texting too much.

When you are out with friends and they CONSTANTLY have their mobiles out. Generally I won't be texting other people whilst I am out with friends, sometimes if I am arranging something I will send one or two.

A lot of my 'friends' however will have their phones in their hands for ages, alright so they have a boyfriend or girlfriend big whoop do they constantly need to be texting them? If they get a call they just pick up and one friend in particular will stay on the phone for a while with me just sitting there, she will even make phone calls (and it isn't always about her BF).

I personally think it is quite sad that they can't just be in the moment without constant contact with other people (whether in a relationship or not). I have my phone with me at all times but if I am with someone I will try to be there, yet it seems like mobile phones now interfere with actual social interaction and people just think it is perfectly acceptable (and even expected.. as though not constantly texting means you have no friends)

Thoughts?

I agree! My friend came down to stay with us for half a week and everyday she was calling her boyfriend or answering his calls, they were permanentely texting each other as well as being on messenger and I was pretty peeved off. She could have spoke to him when they were at the hotel for goodness sake. I'll be honest, it spoiled the time we had together.

When I'm at school, I'll occasionally check my Facebook & Twitter and reply to texts, but if someone is talking to me or I'm socialising in a group chat, I will not sit there on my mobile all the time. I think it's incredibly rude!
I stopped taking my laptop to uni when I realised I preferred the internet as a distraction at home and when sitting in social areas people are together but all looking down at their screens.

My phone doesn't have internet access (my decision) either.

I don't even use my MP3 player very much to be honest, I prefer being involved in things around me when I'm out and about.

But hey some people aren't, whatever, I'm not their mum.

Can be rude if they keep doing it though but then I'm unlikely to socialise with you much if you're preoccupied with your phone anyway.

It pisses me off no end. It's so rude, especially when they're at your place or you're visiting them and they're clinging onto it and looking at the damn thing every two minutes. No, I don't think you're sociable, I think you're a giant prick.

"So, what have you been up to th- okay, no, that's cool, start texting. I'm not talking or anything."

I know EXACTLY what you mean! I feel like they're not listening to what I have to say (so I feel as if my attempts to make conversation are pointless) so I stop talking and then it gets all awkward, DAMMIT! Also I feel like I'm interrupting them because I'm talking when they're clearly trying to text some else.
It's almost as if they're subtly tyring to tell me that I'm boring (well that's how I view it anyway). SO rude! rant over/
I've never really been in that situation, but I can see how that could be annoying.
