Protective Jealousy?

One of my friends, has recently converted to Islam and has has stopped drinking/partying etc. However, his family isn't Muslim, but he still tries to stop his sister from meeting or socialising with men. When I asked him why he says he is just protecting her.

What do you think?

It's none of his business. He can't talk if he used to go to parties and have drinks etc. That's not protection.
That's pretty weird. Does it upset her? Because if he's actually destroying her social life that's crossing a line.

Trying to protect his sister is sweet, but maybe she doesn't need protecting. Tell him that.
Alhamdulillah he became a Muslim.

Mashallah. Sounds like a good man who actually cares to make sure the women in his family aren't being used or being treated as sex objects by other men.

But, doesn't she's have the mental ability to distinguish good and bad? Doesn't she have her own right to decide whether she is being treated as sex objects or not? I mean he could seriously talk to her sister about the risks and how guys can use
girls but to prevent her from socialising is bit:colonhash:.

Dont get me wrong I'm not blaming it on Islam, but isn't he just using his new beliefs as an excuse. Just like how I was grown up in Iran. These muslim clerics saying :women shouldn't look at men wrestling, women shouldn't show their hair to stranger men, women shouldn't show their legs from ankles upwards. Sorry but I'm fed up with these

Yes, many women do have the mental ability to distinguish, but some women have bad judgement and are easily infatuated and are susceptible to be the prey of bad men.

And the OP hasn't specifically said that he uses Islam as an excuse to stop her seeing men, but in Islam, women are protected and so are men because men can't date either.

I don't really know what to say about your experience in Iran (I've never been there) but if you're not a religious person or if religion is something that's not very important to you, then you would find it difficult to understand.

In Islam, everything that is harmful is prohibited.

"everything that is harmful is prohibited". of course it is, just like stoning right? Stoning women for adultery doesn't do any harm.

So if men cant date and neither can women, how do they choose their future partners? How does it protect people?

I don't know why you had to single out female adulterers to be stoned, men have committed adultery too.

Anyway, if someone wants to get married, they can get to know their potential spouse in the presence of the woman's father. You don't need to hug, kiss or have sex to seek out the suitable potential spouse.

Yep. All boys want their sister to stay away from parties and drinking and boys, it's a built-in thing! Whatever their religion, most brothers would be very happy if their little sisters stayed at home never socialising with pesky boys, it's not exactly weird.

Unlike us men, who are nigh-on infallible in all matters, and must be heeded.

I doubt you can seriously get to know someone unless you spend time with them...alone

No. Both suffer the same consequences. Stop talking out of your backside, you annoying mong.

OP: It's called being a brother. Any man who isn't an effete pussy will tell you that the thought of his sister being taken advantage of is repulsive.
