Oxonians! Post your UMS scores for your modules at As/A Level!

Hi so I know lots of people worry (including me) about their module scores at As/A level. So if you study at Oxford or are an offer holder if you wouldn't mind, please post your module scores! :smile:
It will put us at peace of mind (maybe).
Thanks!

UMSs do not count in the admission process. You may supply them with your UCAS application, but they are unlikely to count for or against your.

Hi, I'm a third year History student at Oxford. Not sure what you mean by UMS? I can't remember my specific grades for each module. I did 4 Alevels and 1 AS level (Mathematics, Eng Lang and Lit, History, Law and Critical Thinking). Each A levels had 6 mods and the AS had 2 obviously. So out of a total of 26 modules I remember getting full marks in 10 of the modules. My lowest average mark when the totals were added together out of 600 came in Maths and was 92%. I got over 90% in 25 modules and 85% in the last Maths mod.

Fair enough :smile: Course details are in my signature. I honestly don't know how mine stack up compared to other applicants though (and remember that they'll never see your UMS scores!)

Geography (WJEC): 190/200 (310/320 after January module)
History (AQA): 183/200
Computing (AQA): 173/200
Philosophy and Ethics (Edexcel): 171/200
English Literature (AQA): 167/200
General Studies (AQA): 198/200

I'm near the end of my first year for economics & management. I can't remember mine exactly but my module grades for each subject went something like:

Maths: AAAAAC, (A)
Physics: AAAABB (A)
Economics: AAAAAA (A)
Further Maths: AAABBD (B) - just scraped the B!
AEA Economics: Distinction
AEA Maths: Distinction

Third Year PPE

AS-only:
Government & Politics 300/300
Economics (in upper sixth) 83/90 86/90 120/120 --> 289/300

A-level:
Mathematics: C1 99/100, C2 98/100, S1 79/100, C3 95/100, C4 94/100, S2 98/100 --> 563/600
History: 120/120, 74/90, 90/90, 89/90, 120/120, 70/90 (coursework) --> 563/600
Religious Studies: 150/150, 150/150 (coursework), 142/150, 128/150 --> 570/600

Worth noting that Oxford don't ask for AS level UMS; the only way it can advantage you is if you get good ones at AS and get them included in your reference. They do, however, see your headline module grades. There is no point worrying about them for A2.

You really shouldn't worry about this too much. Like other people have mentioned, Oxford (unlike Cambridge) does not ask for your UMS marks so they won't know how high (or low) your As are.

I put my module grades down on my UCAS form but not the UMS marks.

AS Levels (not much point in putting A2 modules down as Oxford didn't see them)

Chemistry (OCR) - A
Unit 1: 84/90 A
Unit 2: 145/150 A
Unit 3: 54/60 A

Physics (Edexcel) - A
Unit 1: 111/120 A
Unit 2: 106/120 A
Unit 3: 50/60 A

Maths (Edexcel) - A
C1: 100/100 A
C2: 94/100 A
M1: 86/100 A

History (Edexcel) - A
Unit 1: 92/100 A
Unit 2: 74/100 B

Critical Thinking (OCR) - A (just!)
Unit 1: 92/100 A
Unit 2: 71/100 B

advanced extension award. they got abolished when the A* came in. They essentially cover A level knowledge but with much, much harder papers. 70% of people who sit them fail (approx), 20% get merit, 10% distinction. These are just rough figures but they were always around those sort of figures for most papers.

They don't even see you module grades. Mine were **** so I left them out and just put my overall grades into UCAS.

Oh wow, that's really interesting. I didn't even know they existed!
I guess they were a good way of showing then that you could apply your knowledge in a much more sophisticated way.
