Ruth Lawrence came top of her year at Oxford and got a starred first at age 13 - whcih she did in two years, what's she done? Not much by the standard of an average UK maths professor.

That's the media for you. It's a fun story - one that's much easier to write and is far more accessible than a story about incomprehensible cutting-edge mathematics done in collaboration (mostly) by boring middle-aged men.
