Ooh extra storage space~ I hope I get one big enough to roll around in 8DDD

Hmn, maybe, how many rooms were you shown in CD and Tannery? Oh were there lifts or just stairs in CD to get to each floor?

From what I read, yup! I think you pick 3, one that you really want a two that you won't mind as back up

I saw 2 in CD and 3 in the Tannery. The latter 3 were all exactly the same size-wise, but there might be different ones throughout

Well I looked at the bus stop outside the accmodation.
Right so I just looked it up, and i've worked it out.
The last one from clarence dock to town is at half 7, however coming back TO clarence dock they run till about half 11 !!
Which is slightly better... but still :s when compared to other buses running till 3 to other accomodation around leeds...

Ahh, okay, that makes sense  Yeah that's still not exactly ideal - I'm not always going to want to be coming back to CD before 11 at night. It's put me off a little, if I'm honest. But thanks for sharing that! I didn't think to ask about buses today.

I know i've just eliminated James Bailie but i want it :frown:, if only it had a better common room (not sure what i want anymore)
Original post by ohhelloruth
nope but ive been to leeds twice now and saw james baillie and henry price and seen some others from the outside...

did you?

No I couldn't go :frown:, its too much of a trek for me to go to leeds twice in 2 weeks
(I live in north kent, just outside london), i went 2 the visit day recently and was only shown henry price, so I'm trying to gather as much information as possible about the other accommodations to build up a picture

what did you think about james bailie park?

Original post by dmz
Felt pretty ordinary, nothing special and the tour guide seemed to think it was **** and didn't even bother to take me there, lol. I really liked the rooms tho, a bit too small however. Kitchen was nice too

Felt like the perfect compromise with distance and all, just could have done with more facilities

Can I ask what are you looking for in your future accommodation, cos obviously everyone's opinion of the accommodation will differ depending on what they want

Usually pretty modern, good social prospects (distance is not an issue)

After today I've decided I really want to be around Headingley, so trying to decide between James Baillie, NHC and Lupton.

Definitely made me even more excited for September though!

I think most people would get a taxi, if your with a group of mates, shouldn't be more than a couple of quid each.

CD was my favourite before i went so i already had high expectations for it, didn't get the chance to see the 'nice scenery' but the halls were kinda tight, but the rooms were spacious enough i thought, the gym was disappointing as i was only interested in weights which they only had one machine for , i really like the kitchen though and the shapes the room were (i know that sounds weird) cos it makes me much more nicer to personalise. The bar however was really good i thought, especially upstairs with the pool table and the lights, and it had a big tv in a side also. It is far but it's a 20min walk from town and it doesn't really take that long driving tbh, buses takes 15-20 from there to parkinson building and it's a 30mins walk if you decide to walk so it shouldn't impact social life. It didn't look as modern as i expected though

Devonshire Pretty artsy but really not my type , so didn't look much around, wasn't comfortable at all  (Sorry MoS)

Your description of CD far beats mine but I agree.

I'm disappointed as far as Devonshire goes though. Artsy how?

oh okay fair enough, that's pretty similar to me, tho I do care about distance, which is my only issue with clarence dock at the mo :s-smilie:

haha, i saw two girls from my college there too....never spoke to them before though but one of them seemed to recognize me...I'm still confused between the 3, based on room alone it'd James Baile, Socialising on site: CD, location : Leodis

You were or disappointed about my opinion of it? They made it look different in pictures , but it had a cambridgey feeling to it, like one of those scenes you see in old italian movies where you have clothes line going across and people leaning out of the window saying 'no shut uphu' (don't ask ) and it wasn't bad inside at all, but looking up outside it felt a bit... weird

Heh same, visiting has actually made it more confusing. I think maybe I'm over-thinking it and should just choose :P

leodis was originally my first choice but i kept on hearing pros and cons about all the accommodations and so kept on changing my mind :s

I decided I didn't want to be on campus really because I would wanna get away from uni some days I guess and I want to be self catered so ruled c.m out
James baillie I didn't think it was as good as pics and the room I saw was tiny and it's not as close to uni as leodis so would have to get up earlier
Leodis rooms aren't much bigger than j.b but I liked that it's a larger site and better common room

At least you met people! The more, the merrier. Did your friends and brother go with you?
From the three you've narrowed down to, I'd go with CD personally. Then James Baile maybe, then Leodis. Location I don't really mind since I like the idea of walking. (I say this now. :colonhash:)

Ahaha, fair enough. The Cambridge-esqueness, was a definite plus point for me so maybe that's swaying my opinion of it. Old Italian movies didn't come to mind though. But purely on the outside? :colonhash: It was old and somewhat ancient-like?
