working abroad with a criminal record

i have been convicted for something serious (but not violent or involving kiddie porn) here in the uk but i have just graduated. can i still get work abroad (either outside the EU or inside) without disclosing this conviction? i mean, would a CRB check in, for example, the netherlands expose me?

Some countries would flag this up - you can't actually enter Canada with a conviction for 5 years.

the US are really friendly as well...

You'll have to check with each country to be sure - speak to the British Embassy of where you want to go.

Working abroad almost anywhere will require a CRB check.
