Do you think confidence and popularity can be faked?

I've just realised I could just fake being confident, smile a lot, make loads of effort with people, be really charming and kind, flatter people and finally I will have the life I want. Your thoughts?

In the midst of all this you will feel guilt over your 'show'/put up.

Chances of depression/suicide are due ? I say

You're defined by what you do. If you really manage to get the life you want by doing that then it's not fake.

Good answer  Makes sense.

'faking' it may be what eventually turns it into being real.
People gravitate towards confident and outgoing people. So if you do what you say then it'll happen.

Popularity? Maybe.
Confidence... this is somewhat hard to fake I reckon, and the only one you'll be impressing are those who lack self-confidence themselves

I know confidence can be faked.

As for popularity, it can only be faked up to a certain point where if the other person gets any closer then they will see through your web of lies.

YES to both! There was this camp kid in my school who was quite unpopular for 5 years and very inconfident, but as soon as we got into sixth form, lloads of girls joined. Suddenly he started dressing different, after a while ditched all his old friends. Eventually though it did seem to turn into genuine confidence and sure as hell genuine popularity!
You can fake them both, but I think popularity would be a little bit harder.

it's not really faking it, people with no self confidence at all wouldn't dare to pull off something like that. In a way it IS confidence.

You could but you will be unhappy.

You could give it a go but it won't necessarily make you happy unless it turns into real confidence and popularity.
Do it.
easily doable, it leads on to 'real' confidence etc. if you start by faking it,
90% of the confident/popular people you know will either BE faking it or started out faking it.

Yeah it's possible. I've tried it for a bit but it gets a bit boring.

To some extent, sure, especially in a context when you're socialising with a new group of people who have few pre-conceived notions of your personality. Social psychologists talk about self-reinforcing behaviour, whereby if you expect good things to happen, then they will. For example - if you expect someone to be nice to you, then you will subconsciously be nicer to them, which will make them nicer to you.

If you act like you are happy and confident, then people will treat you as if you are happy and confident, and soon you will actually start to feel happier and more confident.

non of them can be faked... if you don't have confidence in your self and try to fake it soon it will catch up with you! and for popularity you gatta do some thing to help you be there, it could be some thing really good or really bad!

it can be faked easily dude, try spending a few months in sales and see how easy it is when you get used to having to be confident and out-going everyday to earn money.

I fake it all the time with people, and am always being asked to go out for drinks with different people/groups.
