TSR Election: Ask The Leaders

The TSR Election will be taking place this Friday and in the run up to voting, the leaders of TSR's parties will be answering your questions. This is your opportunity to find out where each party stands on issues such as tuition fees, the economy and foreign affairs before casting your vote from Friday evening.

The parties standing are: TSR Centre Party, TSR Conservative Party, TSR Labour Party, TSR Liberal Democrat Party, TSR Libertarian Party, TSR Socialist Party & TSR UKIP Party.

Ask your questions here!!

*TSR Parties do sometimes differ from the real life equivalent, so the responses given may not reflect real life policy.

Hello everyone,

I'm Paddy and I'm the leader of the TSR Labour Party.

If you wish to join the party and get involved in the election you will be more than welcome and if you wish to ask questions you are welcome to post them here or send me a PM. :smile:

Please do bear in mind, as Metrobeans has stated, that parties on here are not branches of the RL equivalents and thus do not necessarily share the opinions of the RL parties (although we are, of course, free to do so).

I'm also happy, as I'm sure the other leaders are too, to answer questions about the Model House of Commons in general for anyone who may be interested in participating.

You can join parties here, of course you should choose Labour but this decision is yours ;].

Here is the HOC forum, it is from here you will be able to access the private party sub-forums.

Hi everyone,
I'm toronto353, leader of TSR UKIP. TSR UKIP is a party which is always on the lookout for keen members to get stuck in. While our ideals do sometimes differ from RL UKIP, we do agree on the fundamental aim of withdrawal from the EU. I look forward to answering all questions and hope that many of you will join one of the many parties available, although I will be particularly happy if you join TSR UKIP :P.

What would be your actions towards the current military operations within Afghanistan and Iraq? And what about our present position within Libya?

Also, in regards to the Police Forces, I feel some areas need more power towards the Police. For example, some inner-city areas, and even this area in Cumbria. The Police here will not crack down on boy-racers; granted its their freedom to drive, but in dangering other people's lives, they are also limiting theirs.

So, would you give certain areas' Police Forces, or would you level them all and draw back the line of how much power they had?

I'd like to know, if you were in charge, how you would approach both of these areas. (Hypothetically, of course. :colondollar:

)

We don't have expenses....sadly.

Some of our parties share the same name with real parties like Labour, Conservatives, Lib Dems, and those parties are or may be orientated the same as the real parties on the political scale (i.e left wing, right wing etc) but that doesn't mean we are exactly like them.

The TSR Lib Dems do not entirely agree with everything the real Lib Dems do and say

Why have the Centre Party chosen to use an out of date political compass (more than 2 terms old) and which had the Libertarian party plotted wrongly (they should be more socially liberal by one point on the graph from the actual averages)? It would be like Hague slurring Blair by calling him Michael Foot.

The graph, although slightly out of date, still allows us to make our point: that we are the only "moderate" party (economically) in the MHoC.

You haven't asked any party about their economic policies. Very few debates have been had about economic policies so how can you make such an assumption?

Thanks for the question and sorry it took so long for me to respond - I've been travelling quite a lot over the past few days. You asked the question where my own views differ from that of my party. The view of the Libertarian Party is to oppoise any government intervention and this includes intervention abroad. However, personally, I can't understand the idea of non-intervention in a post 9/11 world and will try my best to compromise with some factions in libertarianism which don't want to intervene abroad. I think Lybia, Iraq and Afghanistan are examples of slave-states which threaten our own sovereignty and interests. As for policing we believe in returning civil liberties lost under years of authoritarian government and that policing should be more decentralised and less bureaucratic. We believe that all are entitled to a peaceful enjoyment of their own property - boy-racers and homeowners alike - and will uphold the right of homeowners to make complaints against excessive noise and nuisance.
