Post your best photograph

How do you get it so that the subject (i.e. the random dude) is really clear and sharp in the foreground and the background street scene is all blurry fuzzy and out of focus? I have always wanted to do that but I dont know how.

The double neg was for no reason. I am asking a legimate question.

Why did I get triple negged for this question. I don't know how to do professional photographs so it is a geniune question so WTH?????

A little bit of internet research never goes amiss. I learnt almost completely from the internet and I teach my art teachers at school now.
