HELP! Kingston Vs CCW art foundation

wow you are lucky! I applied to CCW and had a portfolio review, but haven't heard back from them yet.

I think you have t take everything into consideration and decide. CCW does seem very expensive, I am going to be 19 too, so will have to pay at whatever college I end up going to. How come Kingston is free?

I almost regretted not applying to Kingston, because although it's quite underrated, I think I would prefer the area more!

Living outside just outside central London would be nice, Camberwell is a Devil to get to! It is going to cost me a fortune in transport. Also there are 750 places on offer at Camberwell, so sizes are going to be big. I am also a little apprehensive about as you say this being a new CCW thing, so there will be a lot of things they will have to improve.

Also at Camberwell I didn't like how they push you to be "an artist, design, or in communication" straight away, without giving the opportunity to try out things. (Though I can understand why they decided not to do this). I also don't like how there isn't really any art history in the course, as I quite like contextual studies. The other place I have a place for, has more of an emphasis on drawing, so right now I am more inclined towards that course. Though I think if you are really into Television and video/film, the CCW one will be the best as you get to move to the Wimbledon specialist site as soon as you choose to do that!

Draw up a list of pro's and con's and discuss it with other peoples thoughts!

I got my offered a place yesterday! So happy. I wonder what the competition was like to get in!?

This may not be the best reason (in fact, it probably isn't) but personally I'd go for CCW based on the fact that the course itself would be pretty similar, but CCW has a better reputation (for the purposes of CVs and such).

I applied to both kingston and CCW initially, and then i decided not to go for kingston before I even had the interview, I'd been to life drawing at Kingston and went to one of the open days, and I would say the teaching standard was really good so that's definitely a plus.
I can understand the feeling that Camberwell isn't as friendly but I don't think it's that, it's not like evil people go to Camberwell compared to Kingston , i'm sure there are plenty of lovely people that will be going. At the portfolio review I think everyone was just as timid with meeting everyone else, when actually approaching people and talking they were all friendly.
Unlike people on this thread I actually didn't like Kingstons location, the transport link to London isn't great, a train every half an hour gets to be a bit of a nightmare, and there's a one way system in kingston so even driving isn't the best. Although don't get me wrong I do think it's a beautiful place, but just not quite beautiful enough to win me over, I do love London, and the buzzing atmosphere mentioned, so CCW it is for me. I have a friend whose doing Fine Art at kingston, she did the foundation too, she said it's a great course and the teaching is good but living there is boring. so hey, i guess that may have swung me a little too. but all the best to whoever does choose Kingston, i'm sure you'll go far! Some people go there and would never choose anywhere else. Also at the end of the day it's only a year so it's not a life sentence, if you decide you'd rather choose Camberwell/Chelsea/Wimbledon for a BA or Kingston depending on which one you go to then you always can .
If anyone else here has decided to go to CCW it'd be nice to know more people going before i get there.

I chose CCW in the end as it's the one I feel ridiculously excited and enthusiastic about and I think that counts for a lot. I felt the environment of the college was creative without being pretentious, lively and friendly and I think living in fairly central London and all the wonderful things that entails more than makes up for any reduction in attention compared to Kingston, as I am quite a self-motivated person anyway I work best independently. I'm sure Kingston is good to but at the end of the day I decided to go with my gut feeling.
