Plus the year in industry would be invaluable to get contacts and experience.

You sound exactly like me...I've just firmed UEA. I decided I'd rather go where I was going to have a better life then reputation because these three years are the only time we can - before you know it, it'll be mortgages and 9-5 jobs *dies*

Well bham have a year in industry but they want AAA for that, or a certain % in your first year :/
The huge con for Bham is that you can already apply for accommodation now, and it's a first come first served basis. Seeing as I'm still waiting for my ID number and recieved an offer quite late in the process, I'd probably get like my 3rd choice, which would probably be a ridiculous price.



And bills, and kids and what not haha Ahhh it's scary thinking about that, it was only a few years ago we were going to start secondary school!
I hope I don't have a 9-5 job, I'd love to work in the field, an office job would be so boring! Although that's not really stable. Or maybe do what my biology teacher does, teach as a stable job and work in the field during the holidays.

Plus in the end I guess it doesn't matter where you go, as long as you're happy, get your degree and the job you want. Everything else that occurs is a bonus.

I really want to try the flume machine in the env department, it was so cool to watch.

It's very nice to see that you haven't pandered to league tables. And you'll get into less debt. Plus I'd be inclined to say that IR is much broader and opens more doors than Scandanavian studies will.

Yeah, that's exactly what I thought, although UEA always comes top for student satisfaction. Scandy Studies is a lot more specialist, and if I still want to do it in 3 years' time, I could always dig myself into more debt and do a postgrad

I don't understand why all unis cant run applications like UEA, where you cant even start to apply until all offers are through, and its not first come first served so its fair. Also you pay a ridiculous ammount at Brum to be on the "best" site aka the Vale and your a good 20mins walk away at least.

I know it just rushes people into potentially bad decisions. Snobbish as it sounds, but Bham pales in comparison to London, so why they should charge as high prices as London is beyond me I'm curious as to how much Oxbridge make you pay now compared to Bham, Nottingham was another one for ridiculous prices and their accommodation wasn't even nice!

Speaking of freshers. I certainly hope 2011-2012's freshers are better than 2010-2011's. Just being as 2009's were better, seems to have lost their touch.

Hi, does anyone do maths at UEA? What is the department like? All i know is that its fairly small but that can be a good thing right?

Hi, sorry I didn't see your thread earlier. I do maths at UEA. I guess it might be small compared to others, but all the lecturers are friendly and eager to help. Everyone I know enjoys being here.

Just firmed UEA Culture, Literature and Politics... Just need to get my head down and hit my offer. Don't know what I will do if I miss it, really don't want to go anywhere else now.....
