I'm not sure about the Hong Kong part, but Exeter is far more prestigious and ranks much higher in league tables than the other two.

hi, i'm from Hong Kong and I study at Exeter. I think whether it is international or local reputation, Exeter stands out from the other two unis, especially as they have an established business school which ranks very well in the league tables

I suppose you go to Aston or Royal Holloway? Time to wake up from your dream that you're going to a prestigious University. :colondollar:

Ok, no problem. Just expressing my opinion, on a free, public forum.

Your opinion should be expressed in a more productive manner - which will give the OP useful information. If there is a difference between the two university's it will be marginal with each having different strengths. Also the classification of prestige is very ambiguous and therefore subjective but still maintaining core aspects such as tradition, research output, aesthetics amongst other factors.

Aston is meant to be very specialised for business though. It's like really really good for business.

I personally think when it comes to business, I thought of Aston and not really Exeter or RHUL.

Exeter's international reputation is not better than Aston. I even think RHUL with the name 'University of London' would have the best international rep out of the three.

Just saying.

Not sure what you're getting at here. This table is not from a reputable source and also doesn't compare any of the unis in question.
And yes, I am sure, check the Times uni guide.

It's the Independent newspaper so it is definitely reputable.

However, whether it's reliable or not, it's a different story.

If Time's say it differently, this means league tables aren't exactly the best measurement of university performance.

Therefore, shouldn't be used as the indicator on which uni is best.

When it comes to business stuffs, go for the one that does the best marketing and management degree.

I personally would go for either Exeter or Aston. (Although I am very biased to Aston)

But if you really care about international reputation, go for RHUL just for the sake of the name 'UoL'.

1. Yes it is, The Independent.
2. Yes it does
3. The Times is no more reputable than The Independent

You are patently an Exeter student attempting to boost your ego by bigging up your university. In reality, I'm afraid all the institutions listed are mediocre and any discrepancy between them is marginal and department specific.

First off, the Times is more reputable than the Independent, certainly in Uni League Tables. Second off, in any league table you look at, even the god awful ones, you will find Exeter at least 15/20 places above the other two, and rarley out of the top 15.
Thirdly Exeter is the best university in the South West/South West Peninsula (depends how you define southwest) whereas Aston and Holloway aren't even top in their own city! They are both on par with former polys. Exeter is rapidly gaining places in the League Tables, and prestige around the world.

Also, sorry to tell you, I'm not a Student and the University of Exeter. I am merley trying to provide some sane advice to the OP.

They are no way on par with ex-polys - they're miles ahead. The Times rankings are now compiled by Exeter Enterprises, subsidiary of the Exeter University. Hence, the Times league table will be likely to overrate Exeter Uni (no disrespect to them as they are still a good uni).

Lmao. What city is that, then?

It really isn't. They are both national newspapers, they simply attribute different weight to certain assessment criteria. Perhaps we need a league table for the league tables.

Regardless, as you seem to cream over The Times so much:

http://www.timeshighereducation.co.uk/world-university-rankings/2010-2011/top-200.html

Royal Holloway is rated 88th, Exeter 184th.

As I've already demonstrated with two separate examples, this is simply BS.

This is simply ridiculous. There are over 20 universities in London, including Imperial, UCL and KCL, all of which are substantially more prestigous than Exeter. It's astonishing that you think the fact that Exeter is in a remote region with little in the way of competion somehow qualifies your argument that it is superior to the other two institutions.

Of course, you would say that. Whether you are an Exeter student or not, your advice is based on flawed assumptions and an arbitrary subjective interpretation of "prestige".
