edexcel graduate specialist marker

Hi,

I have been invited to a Graduate assessment day for the edexcel graduate specialist marker vacancy for chemistry. It is on Thursday 14th April.

As you can see from my location, I live in Glasgow(Scotland). So, I need to get to London.

What I was thinking of doing was getting the megabus from Glasgow to London Victoria Bus station.

I then need to get the tube to Holborn station, as the edexcel office is right next to it.

Can anyone tell me the best way to get from Victoria bus station to holborn station. I was thinking of the Victoria station to Holborn, but I am not sure if there is a link between the two.

If someone can help me with this, I would be grateful. As, it is quite difficult to get around in London, as there are far too many transport links.

Also, is anyone else going to the graduate assessment day. It is from 9:30am to 11am and I am told that it involves a basic English key skills test, which is computer based.

Please, anyone. :biggrin:

Hey I also have an assessment day with them, however mine is on Tuesday 12th April.

From Victoria you can go to Oxford Circus using the Victoria Line and then take the Central Line from there to Holborn or get off at Green park and take the Picadilly line to Holborn too. Which ever suits you I guess.

Hi firestar101,

I have recently applied for the same job role as yourself. Am sure by now you must have completed your assessment, if you do mind sharing your experience with the ''skill test'' that you took as i have my assessment next week and am not sure as of what material i should prepare? as it just says "After we have checked your documentation we will ask you to complete basic skills test. This should take between 45mins and 1 hour."
Any help is appreciated.

It's a 40 question multiple choice test based on a computer and you have as much time as you need to complete it. There are no other questions or interviews, just the test. It felt a bit like doing a theory test actually.

It is a verbal reasoning+grammar test and the pass mark was 27/40 I think. You really don't need to worry about it. The HR lady told me that its main purpose was to screen out people who did not have a good command of English, as they do get a lot of over seas graduates applying.

You will have to read passages of text and then answer questions on them. E.g the style of the article, reporting of facts, the message being conveyed, what words can be substituted in a specific sentence, spelling errors, grammatical errors etc.

Its a basic literacy test nothing to worry about. The give you a few articles and ask questions related to that like what is the spelling error, what is the article talking about. All multiple choice questions. Hope that helps :smile:
