Uni at 17?

Hey guys,
I know there are a few posts on here already about this, but I just wanted to make sure Im doing the right thing really.
Im considering going to uni this year but ill only be 17, and I really want to go .. only thing holding me back is the club/pub situation.
Let me know what you think? If I should go etc...
cheers:biggrin:!

i started uni when i was 17 and still had 3 months till my birthday!
i don't feel that i missed out on anything tbh, only the club scene but thats not everything.
i've made plenty of friends without having to go to clubs during freshers' week and even with staying at home!
definitely go for it
Depends on when you turn 18, best bet, just get a fake ID, guy in my year's doing it and he's not 18 till march, you'll be fine

I think the admission tutor will sympathize with your situation

get some ID, then before you know it, you'll be 18
One of my friends had a 17-year-old roomate along with a load of 18-year-olds and 19-year olds. This might just be personal but they found her really immature and annoying.

This isn't meant to discourage you, just to prompt you to ask yoruself if you think you're ready

you go to glasgow uni !?

cheers guys, I feel slightly better now .. Im mostly worried about Freshers week tbh, thats where I'd perhaps feel slightly out of place?
Also I wouldn't say I was immature or anything like that, a lot of people say im quite mature for my age anyway so I don't see that as being a problem

You have an excellent user-name, just thought I'd say that.

Personally OP I'd wait until I was 18 to go to uni, but that's just me. If you feel ready then go, and besides if you wait a year you'll most likely be in triple the debt than if you went this year.

with scottish students, a lot of them are under 18 when they leave school. because we do one less year than english students. one of my friends will still be underage for REFRESHERS, how annoying is that?
i'm not going to be 18 til october...i just hope all my flatmates aren't 18 and i'm left alone in the flat for all of freshers :frown:
every day i grudge my parents for not thinking about conceiving me a month or two earlier. dammit.

Get an ID from someone, sorted...Unless you're foreign or really weird looking it shouldn't be a problem.
It depends which uni you're going to, I'm at Newcastle and I doubt I'd be as close to my mates if I hadn't be able to go out as that was 3 or 4 times a week. I'd be major bored too.
There's a 17 year old dude living on my floor who we don't talk to much, didn't want to take him out in case he couldn't get in and we weren't going back with him. But he's very weird, I doubt we would of been mates even if he was older.

I'll have only just turned 18 when I start uni, so I kinda get how you feel. I'm sure it'll be fine, as long as you're not really immature. If you're ready for it, go. There will be people who don't go out clubbing and what not, so you hsould be fiiine.
I would just go, it isn't a big deal at all.
Do it! I'll turn 17 just after I start uni, and I don't really see the point in waiting. I belong in my class, and so I think I belong in university when we all head off.
