Has anyone asked a lecturer out for coffee?

Basically, I will graduate in a few months time and I really fancy my lecturer. I have tried hard not to fancy him, and dated guys to try and get over him etc, but I simply can't help how I feel.
He does treat me differently by flirting with me and teasing me. We have a similar sense of humour and there seems to be a strong attraction there (on both sides I think, but of course I can't be sure).
However, I don't know him on a personal level, as our relationship is mostly joking around/banter. He is single and about ten years older than me.

Would it be acceptable for me to make a move when I graduate, and if so, how? Has anyone ever asked a lecturer/ ex-lecturer out for coffee before?

tl;dr: I fancy my lecturer. Should I make a move when I graduate this summer?

Might as well give it a shot!

Go wild. I mean he's not in a position of care when you graduate, and its definitely not morally erong or so, as opposed to schoolkids banging their teachers.
You have sonething in common too, which is something possibly unfound in a relationship with someone you pulled in a bar

Then I woke up.

I have asked out lecturers for coffee or even to come over to my place for meals.

I've also asked a lecturer out to go to a country fair and a vintage car show.

I recently asked one of my lecturers to give me a call when she is in London... so can meet up for coffee..... she is this Italian woman that looks like Sarah Brightman and she drives an Alfa Romeo

It's quite the norm to sit down with a lecturer for coffee.... though it usually won't lead to anything more than friends.

How many of those lecturers actually agreed to go with you?

 Yeah, I just don't know how to go about it. It's difficult to get him on his own. I could email him, but that might seem weird since I'm not in the habbit of sending him emails.

Hmm, well that would never happen in our department. I suppose it depends on the uni, but none of my peers/friends have gone for coffee or socialised with one of our leturers that I know of.

Asked out for coffee.. I asked 3.... all of them agreed.
Asked over to have a meal at my place... I asked 2... 1 agreed.
Asked to go for the country fair and car show... I asked 3, all 3 agreed to go with me and I drove them  It was a blast.

The one from Italy, she once invited the entire class to her house. All 18 of us went to her house for an informal gathering.

Had a coffee break with her once, though my wife was sitting with us and making sure we were not flirting

Once had lunch with her as well at the student union  She was eating there and I asked if I could join her. It was fun making her talk about her Alfa Romeo

Oh yeah.... forgot to add... with the exception of the one from Italy, all of them are blokes

True, but if I did ask him for coffee it obviously wouldn't be with just in friendship in mind. Bearing in mind that he is sometimes very flirty with me and it hasn't gone unnoticed by people. He can be kind of awkward if it's just the two of us about though, it builds up the tension.

Out of interest, are you a mature student?

10 years difference in a relationship means nothing after the age of 17, so go for it.

Sounds like he may have a thing for you  My advice would be to take it slow and easy

I was a mature student last year when I went back to finish my 2nd degree

Now I'm an executive graduate student, and that Italian is my lecturer

When you are young you fancy older mates who you think are more mature.

When you are old you fancy younger mates who have more stamina in bed.

I say go for it - you've nothing to lose, you are better off being COMPLETELY up front with him and sending him a personal message (not uni email etc) saying:

I had a crush on you and wanted to ask you out for a drink but thought it best to wait until graduating - would you be up for a drink/anal sex sometime?

I'm sure he will be keen.

Yeah go for it. I did that once, i invited my lecturer round for coffee, although it didn't end well. I had to bury them in the back garden:rolleyes:. But that doesn't mean it'll be the same you.

haha, well that certainly gets the point across directly lol.

So you don't think he'd find it weird if I set him a random email? Even though I don't know if he likes me or not? And I shouldn't use his uni email then?

It's a daunting thought, but I can't get him out my head. The only problem is I'm planning on returning for postgrad, and even though he wouldn'tbe lecturing me directly, it would be in the same dept. and I'd still be a student
I think you should do it
