The dreams/goals you had as a child/slightly younger than now, do you still have them

When I was slightly younger than I am now (currently 19), I wanted to own a casino. I still want to own a casino.

Though I am going down the education route first, using any money I make/earn/win, I would one day like to open that casino, and if possible, a betting outlet either inside or in a seperate/neighbouring building.

So if possible, can I ask a few questions and if anybody can provide any answers, I will appreciate it.

* How much, roughly, does it cost to open and run a casino?

- Cost of building
- Cost of roulette/blackjack tables
- Wages
- Electricity,etc

Anything else?

* What equipment/people would I need?

- Building
- Tables
- Television screen
- Dealers (staff)
- Security

Anything else?

* Can a casino have a betting kiosk/shop inside for sports betting?

* If so, is there an extra cost/license required for this?

* Is it cheaper to run just an ordinary betting shop? If so, roughly how much would it cost to build and fully license?

If anybody can answer these 5 questions for me I will be grateful

And if you can't, well then don't feel totally out of this thread, you can simply answer the title in relation to yourself. The dreams you had when you were younger, do you still have them? If so, what were they, and what are you doing to achieve them?
I'm sorry I have no idea about your questions but I'll answer in relation to the title.

When I was 8/9, I always said that I wanted to be a baby-sitter by the time I was 14. Nearly 4 years on, that still hasn't happened! Sounds really silly but I used to also want to work in Toys R Us because I thought I'd then get toys for free (for my hypothetical future children) So yeah, you could say my dreams have changed since then! :p:

More realistically, I always wanted to take a gap year and travel. However, although I'm taking a gap year this year after I've finished school (2011/2012), I can't afford to travel, and will probably spend the year finding a job and saving up as much money as I can for uni (which I will hopefully get into next year)
one goal was getting a first at uni... definitely don't have that any more. will be quite happy if i don't fail
I wanted to be a penguin, then a lion and eventually an accountant...
When I was younger I wanted to be older. I think I'm doing aight with that. I also wanted to be a ninja/secret agent but that didn't happen. OR DID IT....

I wanted to be an astrophysicist from about the age of seven. I haven't actually changed that much :awesome:

I wanted to something to do with forensics (not that I used the word 'forensics' then).

Then I realised that that involved chemistry.

Edit: Oh, yeah. I remember wanting to be a princess when I was about 3. This lasted until I was about 4 when I discovered that princesses did not actualy wear the disney like dresses anymore. :frown:

You could've just posted your casino questions in the general discussion forum isn't of posting in H+R with a misleading title. You don't really care what our childhood dreams were do you?

I wanted to travel the world, studying animals and helping conservation efforts.

So far so good!

I've also always been interested in journalism...

As for your casino, you gotta be rollin' in cash.

Since I was the age of 3, I have wanted become an airline pilot. My dad bought me a model aircraft when I went on my first holiday and the captain gave me a 'Flightdeck Passport' when my dad took me up to see the pilots. I still have both the passport and the model aircraft haha!

I have the qualifications to begin training and currently at university just finishing my 2nd year of Aeronautical Engineering.

So far things are still on track! :P

With respect, I think you haven't got a clue. You need to read the Gambling Act 2005, which details casino licencing. It's a heavy drawn out process and you need to apply to just about every interested party concerned, but mainly the local authority and the police.

You shouldn't be worrying about money for electricity bills - the amount of cash you'll need to cover the action will exceed that in a heartbeat.
i didnt really want to be anything up until year 9 or 10 (15 or 16) THEN i wanted to be an alcoholic bum.

no joke, i was failing in school, and the teachers all asked me what i wanted to do/be and this was my reply for a year or 2. they couldnt get it round their heads that i actually wanted to be an alcoholic.

i must admit i was in a low place at the time, and school didnt give me any joys.

then i started looking at the wider world, and wanted to help people that were in my situation. im now doing a degree in youth work.

so i guess im getting to my dream slowly.

the dark past makes for a lighter future right?

When I was a kid, I wanted to be a surgeon. Unfortunately, I'm dyspraxic, which means my hands shake. No surgery for me.

However, that desire to help people stuck around, and now I'm in my second year as a psychology student and I work with a charity that helps the mentally ill.

When i was younger, i dreamt of marrying scooby doo ... i cried when i realised he wasnt real... scooby doo, where are you?

Then i dreamt of becoming a famous thief :h: That was during my sticky finger days.

Now my dreams have become slightly more realistic. I'm going to become a billionaire!
