heyy in terms of reapplying is anyone thinking of applying to oxbridge? Anyone know how they consider applications from people on their gap year?

They do consider gap year applicants. There are some colleges which like you to have taken a gap year, although I'm not sure which off the top of my head. I'd have done so myself if I had the grades. Unfortunately I was a lazy git through A-levels and wasn't able to in the end.

Do you guys not do like close reading in English at school? It forms half of our Higher English courses in Scotland and is exactly the same as VR.

I don't think so. I've never had any exam like the UKCAT, aside from 11+ admissions test when in year 6, applying to select secondary schools. Apart from that, nothing.

I forgot what I was supposed to be telling you. :holmes:

It was 600 last year though. :nothing: :facepalm2: :sigh:

What were you supposed to be telling me? :eyeball: and When? :ninja:

Oh, good improvement then :yep:

It's nothing like close reading! It's logic, which is more philosophy than anything else. What you can deduce from information given within a sentence, not how the sentence is constructed or rewording the sentence in your own words

Also, I am **** at close reading. Can we please not mention that horror. :colone:

No idea. :dontknow:

Definitely. Not good enough though. :emo: Ah well! And what is this?! You applied through Extra? What for? Where? How come? Not taking another gap year? TELL ME.

Do you mean English at GCSEs in England? Unfortunately, we don't learn such things as the VR in UKCAT. I think, if I remember correctly, that we were taught how to appraise different articles (news, letter, advertisement etc) and the exams required writing 2 hour+ long essays. Might be different for different Exam Boards, though. I did OCR English for my GCSEs.

I have used it, yes. :K: Ah, I get you now though. Luckily, I won't have to do the UKCAT ever again! I hope.

Unless it's on a Friday, I always have an early shift after a late. :facepalm2:
But, yeah, it does differ a lot. Although, I do seem to be the only person I've spoken to with an experience like mine... Not that I'm complaining, I don't think I'm missing out on much. Except of course that I've never encountered a death yet :K:

I do enjoy it. I didn't so much at the start but now that I've settled in more I don't mind it as much. I don't blame you for not being bothered though. Sign up to NHS Professionals for bank/part time work.

Yeah, good riddance to that *******s test :u:

Oh no :afraid:... and it used to take me about an hour to get to work too, yeah... bad times...

Really... I didn't either, but we were just a rehab hospital, so when patients were really ill they would get transfered to the bigger hospitals...although if the died we would usually find out

I might. I had to apply for like 30+ jobs on nhs jobs, to get two interviews and a job. There is a job available reallly close by, which I wouldn't even mind doing full time because travelling would be like 5 mins max  but I doubt I will get it :colonhash:

Who gives a ****, you're still gonna make one hot doctor :coma:

I applied anyway, in case I didn't wanna take another year out :ninja: plus I'll probably start Pharmacy at The School of Pharmacy (University of London) then apply for the third time :ninjagirl:

Bastard thing. :colonhash:

Where do you live? And where did you work? An hour is a bloody long way! It takes me about a 10 minutes drive... :ninja:

Oh. So you weren't a fully real HCA either. :colonhash:  We transfer them if they get ill. Not really ill, just ill from being well - e.g. if their blood pressure drops and isn't getting any higher, or they don't feel well and aren't getting better. I think there's only been one death at the hospital though. And I found that out through interview prep when searching for info regarding ISTCs. It was a Leeds lecturer as well. :ninja:

You got a job from the NHS website? You lucky thing! :zomg: Apply for the other one? You have experience so it should help. :yep: I got absolutely nothing from that website. :colonhash: I applied for the job I currently have through the Reed website.

It seems i'm the only one that flaunts their identity... awh

If i get a high ukcat im gna stand on top of the reception desk in the pearson building holding my ukcat results and dance (ie point my fingers in the air while shaking my bum)
heh.

Awh congratulations!!! What's she called? Hope your sister in law and everyone are well

On an unrelated note: I SAW THAT CHINESE GUY OFF JUNIOR DOCTORS COMING OUT OF THE CLUB I WAS GOING INTO LAST NIGHT
He was like fleeing from the club so i didnt get a chance to harass him :ahee:

Haha wiggle your bum? How original! What time are you going to be wiggling this bum  I've trolled way too much in recent months so can't become too easy a target  you're going to be trolling on here in your gap year. Most of your friends go to uni, you spend all of your savings in first few months and you spend all day and night on your laptop :bawling: bet you can't wait . Haha it's not bad at all, and tsr becomes pretty useful, find a job but not 9-5

I know. :colonhash: The stress before that exam is :puke: because that tests makes or breaks your application to so many unis...

Wembley, and it was in Ealing... which by car is about 25 mins drive... but I didn't drive then, had get a lift/tube/walk... usually took 45mins on average, but the tube here is :facepalm2: sometimes...

Lucky :colonhash:

Haha, you nerd  Did you mention it?

:colonhash::colonhash::colonhash: It was a rehab hospital, so they came in to improve stuff like mobililty most of the time. Quite small, only three wards... so not fancy equipments, plus doctors only around in the morning...I could probably get bank shifts there, but its too far tbh and some of the nurses are really bitchy :colonhash:

It doesn't, I applied for about another 30 in November, actually putting effort in to writing the whole PSstyle thingy...Only got one interview, but then realised it wasn't under 10miles away, as the website stated, instead in was somewher near Lancashire :facepalm2:
