People are murdered EVERYWHERE in the world. Does the fact that the failed asylum seeker hit and killed someone mean that it's going to happen to everyone that lives here? NO. Russia is not that racist, it's been sensationalised by those who wish to discredit the progress made by them.

Black people over here are disproportionately favoured in stop and searches, does that make the police racist? NO.

I've yet to go to Russia but will be going during the next year.

There is a difference between English and Russian racism. English is slight bigotry and some slur words, Russian is multiple kicks and knives to the head and areas suspected to protect other vital organs.
Russia have made no progress- it is a terribly backwards and culturally brutal mob run state.

English racism is just as bad as you're making Russia racism out to be. There have been race-driven murders - Stephen Lawrence and Anthony Walker to name just two. I'm failing to see the difference here between "Good old-fashioned" English racism and "terrible" Russian racism.

There is no "grass is greener" semblance within me. I have spoken to people who have been to Russia, who live in Russia and they have informed me that it isn't nearly as bad as the media portrays.

I, being Northern European, should have no issues whilst going around Russia, not least in the metropolitan areas.

I love England as it was 100, 90 years ago. I love our history and our heritage. Modern England/Britain? Absolutely can't stand it. Can't wait to leave.

Yeah, you'd love to live in England 100 years ago as long as you were in the aristocracy, not the short lived, disease ridden, impoverished working classes....
I hate people who look back at England's history through rosy-tinted glasses as if it was all perfect and lovely - you have no idea of the inequalities and atrocities that abounded back then. Be grateful for your current conditions, you're far better off than the billions out there so stop complaining and dwelling on the not-so-perfect past that you never experienced.

Didn't 100% know where this should go, but this is sort of about England... currently... and its affairs? In a roundabout way? Mods, move as you see fit.

So, do you love England? Some people say there's a distinct lack of patriotism here in comparison to other countries like the USA, and people I've personally talked to have different opinions. There are those who love it, think it's amazing, and are very happy here, and then on the opposite end of the spectrum, there are those who hate England and are pretty much cynical in every way about it

What about you guys? Do you love living here, or hate it? Why? The people, the culture, what? Are you going to be living here for the rest of your life, or d'you think you'll escape ASAP? Post your thoughts. Should be interesting!

i hate it so much i moved to wales! mind you, i used to live in Blackburn and its a warzone when it comes to whites vs muslims. i hate it

You're a ****ing idiot.

71 is the figure from 2009. That does not included those left permanently disabled and with other ailments due to organized and malevolent attacks.

And this is quite clearly the work of the meddling media

Note that the more graphic footage that has emerged on shock sites has been excluded.

But yeh, you're right, I can't remember the last time I walked around my city and didn't see a race orientated gang attack.

Oh, well, if you shouldn't have a problem walking the streets, then I guess it is the ideal place to live and absolutely progressive in all possible ways.

The less snow the better. Snow can go consummate itself tbh :colonhash:

Rather there's not enough decent weather.

I live abroad at the moment and only really miss friends, family and Spurs. General people, certainly not. Atmosphere, certainly not. London, a bit but not as much as I thought I would. Day-to-day life, not really.

I have hiatus'd my regular athletics participation and I can't really say I miss it that much either (it's something I associate with home). An opportunity wasted? I think it's an opportunity taken.

I do love it, but don't miss it.

I want to travel this year and hopefully find another country I want to live in from that then move.
I like England, yes there are some bad parts but doesn't every country have this? I know France has bad parts about it so I'm not really bothered but I am considering going back to live in France after Uni

I love london and I love England's history and fashion but I hate chavs ... still I'd never live abroad for too long, no country's ideal but England's the best for me.

Why is England the best for you ? English fashion is terrible or non existent and many core aspects of English life are very poor. What countries are you comparing England too?

:toofunny:

Russia is an absolute dump. Have fun there.
Look at my name and guess how I voted

Do I love England? No, because there are too many people in a small space.

The Channel Islands, Scotland, Wales, and the Isle of Man are better imo.

WHAT? If you ignore the obese and the 'chavs', I think England's pretty well dressed. No one wears indie like we do ... go walk down Oxford street. I mean Italy and Paris (not France as a whole) are perhaps superior in terms of designers etc. but not its general population ... at least when looking at wealthier England (just an observation).
I love our architecture ... I know it's been influenced by French Gothic and Classical Roman/Italian Renaissance but think Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament etc. represent England as whole and are rather ****ing impressive.
And the weather. I like that we get a bit of snow, a bit of sun and **** loads of rain.
And **** it Shakespeare, Dickens, Jamie Brittain, Florence Welch, Virginia Woolf they're why I love England.

I'm failing to see the difference between England and Russia then. England is a dump and Russia is supposedly a dump. Difference is, England is on the way down whilst Russia is on the way up.

Also, I said 'Russia or America'. Note the 'or', meaning it isn't definitive.

71 people died out of how many immigrants? Are you trying to tell me that the very small minority of people who are affected is representative of the treatment of immigrants as a whole? What about all those immigrants who are not subjected to such abuse?

You are obviously unaware of the problems that blacks suffered when they first emigrated to England. Notting Hill riot anyone? Also being discriminated against in the workplace, if they could even get a job.

It takes time to accept change, and obviously England had immigration on a larger scale a long time before Russia (excluding the Former Soviet Socialist Republics).

Probably best you go see for yourself.

The fashion is either **** from the 50's, black, grey, or white, on clothes that are made for short limbed fatties and none of it is fitted.
No one wears Indie like we do? Maybe for a good reason? It does nothing for your figure, makes you look infantile, and looks cheap.
Our architecture is now poor and terrible. Everything now is done with the same generic cheap brick layout and all our heritage is ignored. Also many of the largest iconic English buildings are in London which is great for 20% of England and **** for everyone else.

Something I noticed though is you have not mentioned about the quality of life or other countries you have been to. Are you aware that the UK has the lowest spending power out of all EU countries as well as the smallest house size, not to mention terrible weather. Now why would you want to tolerate these things? Just so you don't feel like some crazy tramp next time you go out in your Indie gear? That's a lot to give up for **** all in return.

I'm not sure if this question is addressed to foreigners but, ehh, I'll reply anyway

Tbh, I loved England a lot more before I moved here for uni. I still find parts of England and the English culture absolutely fascinating, the history is amazing, I love the language, literature, the diversity, etc. No one does comedy like you guys, the music scene is incomparable, and the country itself is just beautiful - countryside/nature as well as the cities. I do have my issues with the way certain things are over here (like your educational system and a few other things) and the awful weather (GAH) but I don't really want to delve into that right now.

However, after spending nearly three years here and having had a great time and finding awesome friends, I'm still certain that I want to move back home. Before coming here to study, I had this utopian image of England as the best place in the world. What I realised is that, as nice as it is, it is just another country with its own problems and faults. I guess it all comes down to that nagging feeling that there is this place where I fit in completely and where I just feel better (which is home). And that makes me homesick. And that, in turn, makes me dislike England sometimes. But it has nothing to do with England itself, it's just me. If that makes any sense
