how would you feel if you missed out on teen life ?

You're 23 ? What part of teen life have you missed out on exactly ?

I've had a relatively good teen life but my 20's are gonna be the best time of my life. What teenage acts do you think you've missed out on exactly ? All your 20's means is you do all the teenage stuff without parents looking over your shoulder. So you do it better. I don't know what I did when I was 15 that I wouldn't do now (aside from the immature crap).

It' bad that you're so obsessed with the past. Just the time you spent making this thread could be spent changing your situation. Do it now or in 10 years you'll be making a thread called "Did I miss out on my 20's".
story of my life,just worse.
I threw my whole age of 17 by being depressed over something stupid and giving a gap year and closing myself to the world >.< now that i'm better i see how it was ffffs X(
i shouldn't have been upset for anything and just had fun..unfortunately i realise this after 8 months :frown:
even before this gap year i missed out majorly on teen life..
I did tbh, or experienced it in homeopathic amounts :colonhash:

My memories of secondary school are bittersweet, amidst the jokes and tomfoolery there is a strong sense that the whole of secondary school was a complete mess. :moon:

I feel I have had to do all my Learning to Live during university. :sigh:

:ditto:

to this, ive never been to a party in my 19 years
all ive done 4 the last 2 years is hit the books:frown:
i feel dead
no one likes me much. *sigh*

It's disheartening, isn't it? People put up with my presence, but I've never been invited anywhere, always the one to text first etc. I can see through all the disingenuousness and see that no one actually likes me. Is is it the same for you?

all my teen life all i did is work work work.had lots of responsibility.family etc now i am 23 i feel i missed out a lot. like parties, gf etc
Even though i can still experence all of these its not the same as you are more mature as u get older. its really hard to explain. when i see teens nowdays it gets me down that i never had that and i never will. anyone feel the same ?

I totally get u.... i feel the same like ive missed out i think partly because my parents have been strict on me, and still are, which is annoying, but I cant blame them... its partly me, being unsocialable and my friends were similar to me... we didnt go out alot, we didnt even socialise out of skool hours, or chill together or even go to parties or anything..... I think it depends how you were brought up and who you hanged around with... me and my friends were the 'geeks' i belive, i still am now... im in uni now and i still feel like im missing out on all the fun/experience and normal stuff... i guess i cnt be a teen anymore... well the say its never too late for anything in life... so make most of what u've got now... and plan what to do next

Even though i feel as though i missed out on my teen year as i wasnt the typcial rebellious, wild child teen, i have had many manhy good childhood memories! my Dad also said to me recently, ooo u missed out on ur teens... nice that! lol....

Have kids and live through them. Join them at ALL the parties. Dress like they do. Get with their boyfriends.

They'll love you for that.

 they would, honest!

I actually think my father is trying to live vicariously through me. Not good -_-

i'm serious.
i'm really an unlikeable person methinks.
For me it was a case of moving around at just the wrong time, I had many good friends when I was in Merseyside then finished secondary school and moved to London to start college, very tough indeed leaving at just the age where you can flourish and wasn't able to find my kind of people at new school :frown: I know what I need to do tho when I get to uni I'll form good, loyal, life-long friends and finally partay!!

I kind of missed out on teen life due to my family's constant moving - we moved house 8 times when I was aged 13-17 (when I started uni) and in that time I attended 5 different schools, so didn't get a chance to settle down long enough to have a proper teen life... but I am quite happy with my life anyway, there is no point regretting and thinking about what you don't have

yeah, sadly i'm serious. This is a really bad dilemma. i'm terrified of uni, and whenever its the holidays i'm just stuck at home
part of me dosn't even want to go.
i hear you on the always the one to text first, i asked this girl about her birthday party, and she didn't even text back.

Bitch.

people in general make me sick...

Exactly the same here but in addition to not doing anything during my teenage years, I also did nothing during my university years so I've never really had a "life" at all. Never kissed a girl, virgin, never been drunk, nothing.

I have never been a fan of parties but I would have like to have done at least something with a girl by now (I'm 22) but it hasn't happened. I think my lack of experience in my earlier years has put me at a disadvantage because I don't have the experience/skills of how to behave around girls in a social situation and as such even if I do happen to come across a girl I like, I am clueless as to what to do.

Oh well, I'll just focus on my career and becoming a semi-professional athlete.

All i did in my early teens was drink down the park and slowly fall into physical decay from smoking, drinking and other things.. i got a few STDs and i wasted money.

Yeah it was fun, but honestly when people here think back to their teens they will remember the 1 out of 10 good bits and think they were having a good time when in reality they were not.

I thought back to my school days earlier today when i met an old friend.. all the memories i had were good but remembering what it was like when we were in class.. grinding lessons, homework, illness, being trapped at night when everyone else was out as i lived far away.. when i did go out the badgering texts, the in-between stage of wanting to do adult things but not being able to as well as not being amused by what i used to be when i was younger.. no one wants to play basketball or football, people are growing up, asking their older brothers and sisters for drinks and smokes, some abusing drugs.. others learning to drive and crashing their cars or moving on as they are more free...

Your 23.. think about the possibilities, responsibilities, places you can go to and things you can do now your earning, the freedom you have, the house/flat you could be renting soon or just the degree your going to get and the decent friends you can meet who wont be interested in getting paralytic because thats what teenagers do!

I thought i would miss alot of my uni mates but it turns out most of them were just people i got drunk with, in reality we had little in common and that is shown by the lack of communication between us whereas the people i lived with and saw on a day to day sober basis were people i wanted to talk to and still talk to now. The same thing can be said about being a teenager.

Nostalgia is a product of the present, people by nature will not remember the bad bits unless they were tramatic.. if you see a group of teens having fun it will be over in about an hour when mummy sends a text asking where they are so dont dwell on it
