I wonder how long it will take arab to hit the ground after he jumps off the tip.
Desperate. They know the oil will run out one day and their country will return to what it's always been - a pile of sand.
Massive buildings scare me. The Hilton tower scares me, there's no ****ing way I'd go anywhere near a mile high tower.

But your criticism made no illicit reference to the aristocracy, as opposed to the population of Saudi Arabia. Even then, you're still exaggerating, in the sense that this is just a building. Had your comments been in reference to the stoning of a woman for adultery, you'd be a little more on target, but no. You'll elude the same hyperbole should a Saudi choose to blow his nose. Which is why you need to calm down.

Are you blind or illiterate?

Well I wouldn't want to generalise individual citizens of Saudi Arabia, but I agree, as a state their monarchical regime is supremely extravagant and indifferent to the plight of their "brothers"

http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/show...7&postcount=17

Can you see it now?

Again, hyperbole at the drop of a hat. I expect people to get heated, but if someone eludes a sense of unnecessary exaggeration at the drop of a hat, I will call them out on it and you are no exception.

Except that I'm not exaggerating, you just haven't bothered to read my posts.

As I've said repeatedly, but still you manage to miss the point, my issue is not really with your point of view. It's that it's so badly targeted. You can throw a hissy fit over the Chinese Olympic games opening, but it's not going to change the fact that it's the nature of societies to want to lay claim to a title, whether that be 'most extravagant celebration' or 'tallest building'. In reality, this is what that is, it is the Saudis wanting to lay claim to a title that many others, too want. Again, if you throw a fit at the drop of a hat, you won't be taken seriously. Just calm down.

Dude, frankly if I were any calmer I'd slip into a coma. Your patronising posts are more amusing than frustrating, but as I've told you time and time again, my opinion comes from my socialist perspectives. If you don't like that, that's your problem, but this is a thread in a discussion forum and I have as much right to express my opinion as anyone else :yy:

(Interestingly enough it doesn't seem to be an unpopular opinion either judging from all the pos rep it's attracted. Even the Arabs in this thread have agreed or pos repped me, my opinion isn't as unpalatable as you might think). :h:

Socialists can be racists too.

Are you trying to imply that I'm a racist?

Meh i wouldn't wanna be at the top of that in an emergency situation.

Maybe now you can see it.

The fact that you have to state this, indicates otherwise.

but as I've told you time and time again, my opinion comes from my socialist perspectives. If you don't like that, that's your problem, but this is a thread in a discussion forum and I have as much right to express my opinion as anyone else :yy:

Now look who's clutching at staws  Have I ever argued against 'socialist perspectives'? Have I made any point about you not having the right to discuss and debate? As I said from the start, you are not immune from being told you are acting like a fool.

(Interestingly enough it doesn't seem to be an unpopular opinion either judging from all the pos rep it's attracted. Even the Arabs in this thread have agreed or pos repped me, my opinion isn't as unpalatable as you might think).

The fact that you need to use 'rep' as a way of arguing proves your childishness. Can't rely on the merit of your own word? I wasn't aware you were this immature, I have lost all respect for your posts (which was considerably high before).

Are you trying to imply that I'm a racist?

 I'm stating that being a 'socialist' doesn't make you immune to racism.

As a matter of fact, I do find some of your posts racially offensive, but hey. I'm not debating that. Not that that'll stop you from trying to make an argument out of it.

No, not really, because all you do is say "hurr durr, badly targetted", yet you didn't provide any specific examples of how it is badly targeted.

Then you said that "your criticism made no illicit reference to the aristocracy, as opposed to the population of Saudi Arabia"...and I showed you that in fact you'd got the wrong end of the stick as I HAD criticised the Saudi regime and not the populace.

:qed:

Now look who's clutching at staws  Have I ever argued against 'socialist perspectives'? Have I made any point about you not having the right to discuss and debate? As I said from the start, you are not immune from being told you are acting like a fool.
Ah, trolling. A favourite tactic of those who've ran out of useful things to say

I haven't acted like a fool, I've responded to each and everyone of your points. You appear to think that this thread should solely be focused on singing the praises of a penis shaped tower. I think otherwise. That doesn't mean I'm "badly targetting" anything, I'm criticising the regime that spends the people's money on this stuff. In fact several other posters have made exactly the same post as me yet you keep whinging at me. Find someone else to bother

The fact that you need to use 'rep' as a way of arguing proves your childishness. Can't rely on the merit of your own word? I wasn't aware you were this immature
LOL, the one good thing about this new rep system is it's geared towards posts, not users. It was a well received post, end o' story :h:

In fact I do rely on the merit of my own word, but since you seem to have some sort of TSR post respect system (see below), I thought I'd show you just how much "respeck" that particular post had earned  Can't have it both ways.

I have lost all respect for your posts (which was considerably high before).
:nopity:

If you truly believe that I urge you to make a thread in AAM, a supermod will be more than glad to deal with it.

If you don't want to do that, then don't bring it up again.

Indeed - 13 minutes from top to bottom in the standard lift (although i imagine there are 'express' lifts)

No, not really, because all you do is say "hurr durr, badly targetted", yet you didn't provide any specific examples of how it is badly targeted.

I noted that you mistargeted your criticism, because your hyperbole is unnecessary on a thread based on the construction of a tall building, and would be more suitable on a thread about a Saudi woman stoned for adultery.

Then you said that "your criticism made no illicit reference to the aristocracy, as opposed to the population of Saudi Arabia"...and I showed you that in fact you'd got the wrong end of the stick as I HAD criticised the Saudi regime and not the populace.

"I'm fairly certain the average Saudi would rather have a decent constitution and no corruption, or the godforsaken Pakistani slave labourers would rather have some basic human rights. Same goes for Bahrain, UAE, etc.

These Arab states literally revolt me, they're the most unclassy, uncultured places on the planet. They think by making endless skyscrapers that shows how "cultured" and "modern" they are...whilst most of their citizens live in poverty."

Again, I highlighted the flaws with your hyperbole, as well as the fact that it is completely mistargeted and out of context. The fact that in your first post, you attacked Saudi society, and then used the aristocracy as the base for your criticism. I pointed out your naivete in such thinking, and you walked away, choosing not to address me.

Ah, trolling. A favourite tactic of those who've ran out of useful things to say

Lol, when you know you're wrong, call 'troll'. It's pretty common among people like you who don't have the emotional maturity to accept defeat. You will delude yourself into thinking the world is backwards when you know that in reality, you've been wrong the whole time.

I haven't acted like a fool, I've responded to each and everyone of your points. You appear to think that this thread should solely be focused on singing the praises of a penis shaped tower.

All towers are 'penis shaped' you flipping numpty. :facepalm2: Also, I have never stated that such a project needs praise. Just that you will throw a fit at the drop of a hat. People can't take you seriously if you make such ridiculous posts.

I think otherwise. That doesn't mean I'm "badly targetting" anything, I'm criticising the regime that spends the people's money on this stuff.

Actually, you spewed exactly the same shrill hyperbole that isn't necessary. It's like if I saw a thread entitled 'California to build world's biggest waterslide', and then went on to writhe uncontrollably at the thought that Americans could consider doing such a thing before closing Guantanamo and providing universal healthcare. I've pointed out why you are targeting badly over and over - you can't draw a distinction between any societies natural urge to lay claim to a specific title - and the politics of a nation as complex as Saudi Arabia.

In fact several other posters have made exactly the same post as me yet you keep whinging at me. Find someone else to bother

Awh, diddums. Is it hard being scrutinised? Grow up and expect the same level of criticism as you're willing to dish out.

LOL, the one good thing about this new rep system is it's geared towards posts, not users. It was a well received post, end o' story

Again, if you have to delude yourself into denial and then say 'end o' story' following a point, you are proving your own childish. You have no idea if the people who repped the post are morons, or why they repped it. And besides, as I said, you can't rely on the merit of your own posts, so you'll say 'I GOT REPP OLOLOL!!11'. Again, clutching on straws.

In fact I do rely on the merit of my own word, but since you seem to have some sort of TSR post respect system (see below), I thought I'd show you just how much "respeck" that particular post had earned  Can't have it both ways.

I can't facepalm this enough. It's called judgement of character. I judge some people to be ignorant, others to be intelligent, some to be well informed, and others to be implicitly indifferent. Again, with every reply to my posts, your brain cell count appears to be dropping.

If you truly believe that I urge you to make a thread in AAM, a supermod will be more than glad to deal with it.

What makes you think I actually care whether you're a racist or not? If divulge spurious racist remarks, that's your business, I'm not going to waste my time asking mods to do anything about it.

If you don't want to do that, then don't bring it up again.

So suddenly these debate and discussion forums, aren't about debate and discussion? Funny that, just a moment ago you were telling me about your right to say whatever you like, and now you're telling me, "don't' bring it up again". The fact is, I feel some of your posts are orientated around an offensively racial bias. Do I care? No not really. When you're wrong, I will sometimes pick up on it. When you're right, I will sometimes pick up on it.

Are we done yet? Because pretty soon you're going to run out of straws.

Hence my telling you that as a SOCIALIST it's not misdirected at all, in fact this building is a perfect symbol of worker's exploitation and oppression which as a SOCIALIST I wish to criticise.

Again, I highlighted the flaws with your hyperbole, as well as the fact that it is completely mistargeted and out of context. It's not naive to me at all, that's what you don't seem to understand, as a socialist the Saudi regime with its extravagances and excesses is a perfect example of inequality.

You're correct that examples of women being stoned are more "obvious" forms of human rights abuse, but as a socialist economic rights fall under human rights for me. Hence it's relevant for me to bring it up.

All towers are 'penis shaped' you flipping numpty. :facepalm2: Also, I have never stated that such a project needs praise. Just that you will throw a fit at the drop of a hat. People can't take you seriously if you make such ridiculous posts.
Again and again you keep going on about "people"...why are you more concerned about my "online reputation" () than I am.

But since you keep harping on about "people" so far the overwhelming majority of people (i.e. all bar one) have approved of my post :awesome: That's "people" for you.

Awh, diddums. Is it hard being scrutinised? Grow up and expect the same level of criticism as you're willing to dish out.
Haha, not at all, I was simply saying that my point of this project being decadant and extravagant is by no means a solitary position for me to take, quite a few people agree. If the standard of living in CA was anything like it is in KSA I'd say exactly the same thing.

You're the one who keeps bringing up "people".

You keep telling me "people won't take you seriously"...then you tell me that people could be morons anyway. Why should I care what "morons" think? (Your words not mine, or is everyone a moron except you?)

If you believe people could be morons then you shouldn't be telling me to write in a way that pleases them, in fact you shouldn't bring up other people at all. I didn't until you did!

I can't facepalm this enough. It's called judgement of character. I judge some people to be ignorant, others to be intelligent, some to be well informed, and others to be implicitly indifferent. Again, with every reply to my posts, your brain cell count appears to be dropping.
Ad hominem attacks :facepalm2:

What makes you think I actually care whether you're a racist or not? If divulge spurious racist remarks, that's your business, I'm not going to waste my time asking mods to do anything about it.
Well aside from anything else it's rather rude to label someone as something, then when invited to do something about it to decline.

It leads me to conclude that you just want to attack me personally. I'll say it again, if you believe I'm a racist, please do tell the supermods.

And if not then don't say it again, it's slanderous and untrue.

So suddenly these debate and discussion forums, aren't about debate and discussion? Funny that, just a moment ago you were telling me about your right to say whatever you like, and now you're telling me, "don't' bring it up again". No you genius, the point of these discussion forums isn't to disparage and insult other users by labelling them as "racists" then when asked to substatiate that claim to say "I don't want to". Highly childish.

Revolution in Saudi please.

Guys, Arab states are not just investing in the tallest building, its only one of the things,
Abu Dhabi is building the first and biggest ZERO emissions city in the world, theres a lot of investment into research and "knowledge cities", Saudi Arabia recently produced its second Saudi made car Aseela, these people are getting back on track, but you guys are choosing to ignore the other stuff and focus on how ridiculous you think building a tall building is. The regime has its fault but things are changing, give it time and you'd see a massive Arab federation streching from the Persian Gulf to the Atlantic Ocean,, and then we'll tell China .. " China where's your dragon now ? "
