Yes it is. The use of the word 'wretched' is sort of used as personification in this context as it suggests emotion.

Also, if anyone could help me,

is

"And when the were all awake in the morning and he wondered if he had dreamt the words that still sang in his ears" a metaphor because the worlds were actually spoken to him not sang?

For the second question, no I wouldn't class this as a metaphor-more suggested imagery or personification again maybe (giving inanimate objects human qualities). :smile:
