Bristol Accommodation (Which one suits me best?)

Hey guys,
I'm an international student who has a place in Bristol to read law (2012)!
Was looking at the Hall websites and they all look fabulous.
Is there anyone around (preferably current Bristol students living in halls) who can guide me along as to which hall suits me best?

I would prefer halls which have a good mix of fun and yet peace so I can actually study and do well at uni!

Also, keeping in mind that I'm an international student of chinese origin, is there any halls that better cater to a needs of an international student?

Lastly, convenience is fairly important to me. Is there a hall that's walking distance to the law school that has say..provision shops and stuff nearby?

If you're looking for self catered I know Manor Hall has the highest proportion of international students. Seems to fit all your requirements pretty well. I'm there at the moment and I love it! Posted photos of my room on the main accommodation thread if you're interested

Depends if you want catered or not? But if you do, CHH is the catered hall closest to the uni and is a popular choice with int'l students who go catered.

From what I gathered from people who lived their and a couple visits I made to it:

pros:

Food is probably the best of any hall in bristol
Close to uni, in the clifton village which looks beautiful
Rooms are reasonably well sized
Hall is one of the nicer looking halls, grade 2 listed building ect.

cons:

most expensive hall in bristol!
Miss out on the experience of being in Stoke Bishop with most of the other uni students (though there are plenty at clifton, just more at Stoke Bishop)
summer ball stands in the shadow of the legendary Goldney ball next door


All in all, if you can afford it, CHH is probably the best hall for you. The other catered halls are at Stoke Bishop, which is a 35 mins walk away up a couple of hills as well.

Manor hall has a lot of international students of chinese origin, if that's what's most important to you then that would seem a good choice. CHH is another if you prefer catered. One possible con of this might be that chinese international students at bristol have a reputation for being a bit "cliquey". If you want to do a lot of socialising with british students and immerse yourself in british culture from day one, it might be worth considering other halls as well. There will be internationals everywhere you go!

convenience; avoid stoke bishop halls (hiatt baker, wills, durdham, churchill, university, badock)! I went to one of these and it was great fun, the bars are great and there's more of a sense of community imo, but very inconvenient as the stoke bishop shop is frankly crap and it is a long walk to lectures in the morning. if you want to be close to shops and lectures definitely do not go to these.

Just wondering, why would most of the other uni students be at stoke bishop?
Isn't a 35min walk to school quite a chore esp. if your lectures are early in the morning??

Also, is there any other form of transport from Stoke Bishop to the Uni?
