I know! I just want to be able to get it all sorted! It's annoying not being able to even firm/insurance choices... I think it went ok :s a LOT of competition for the few places there are though! I didn't really feel like I got enough of a chance to sell myself, if that makes sense? They only asked about 4 questions, so I'd prepared loads of stuff that I expected them to ask about but they didn't.... just the waiting game now I suppose!

I think the first placement is up on NHS Jobs today. I haven't checked it yet but had an email. It's the one for Sheffield.

I didn't apply for Swansea, it's a little far for me as I'm trying to stay as far north as possible (my bf of the last 5 years is staying here), so makes it a little more difficult.

Fingers crossed for you to get an offer from them

Oh really? Yeah they went through my interview quite quickly too, it must be their style of interviewing. Don't see how they can properly decide who to have if they don't take the time to find out about the person though :s But i'm sure you did great, hopefully we'll hear back from them soon!

Yeah i've read about the Sheffield job, it doesn't mention cardiac anywhere but i'm sure it is meant for us to apply for because its geared up that way by the looks of things. So exciting!!

Wow 5 years! Thats awesome. I'm really keen on getting the sheffield job because my bf (of two years, less impressive haha) is hoping to get into sheffield uni.. so we'd get to see a bit more of each other if i worked down the road  But competition is so tight that i'd be ridiculously lucky to get my first choice hospital i think
Good luck applying! Need to get some references, i need one from a school teacher but its the easter hols now :s i'll get emailing

Oh wow, it would be perfect for you then! I've just been looking at the job description (the word doc you download) and it does include cardiac phsyiology, it just isn't that specifically because you have the opportunity to specialise in whichever sector you prefer from the look of it. And it also says you can go to the Uni at Leeds OR DMU, so it very well might be the Sheffield one but we have even more competition if there are other Uni's applying for the same placements!

I know! I really don't see how they're going to pick people from the small amounts of information they must have been getting! Just got to hope we both get places now!

Are you having any luck getting work experience with a Cardiac Physiologist? If you're anywhere close to Carlisle it's looking likely that they'll be ok with me going there for a bit so I could see if they'd take anyone else at the same time?

Yeah it's scary that we'll be up against people from DMU too, and people who've already been working in the NHS :s But surely 20 of us have to get jobs because that's how many people the course is taking (roughly i think).. hmm, its weird that this one is a week or so earlier than she'd said they come out.

Yeah i did work experience with a cardiac physiologist in feb, and i'm shadowing a consultant cardiologist (i'm sure they'll be some cardiac phsyiologists around too) next week. I absolutely loved it! You get to see and learn so much.
i'm no where near carlisle  haha thank you for letting me know though! if i was closer then i'd definitely look into it because the more experience the better

That's what I thought but if there's only 20 placements and anyone can really apply, then it doesn't mean that any of us have to get those placements, it just means that whoever gets the placement can go to Leeds Uni.... I hope it isn't like that but I'm worried that it is! She said about the 14th but I guess they'll post them when they want to :-/

Ha, ok, nevermind then  wow, that sounds great! I can't wait to get on with mine  it'll be amazing to see it all.

Ahhh :s I hope it's not that way round.. because we've gone through the uni interview and everything. But i guess if people are perfect for the job and the course then there's nothing stopping them from doing that :s eeek.

Yeah it's awesome seeing everything being done, i learnt sooo much. Had a few really interesting cases too, it gave me a lot to talk about at interview. Your work exp should be fresh in your mind for the hospital interviews then?
I hope you have a wicked time
I'll be checking on here lots now to see what everyone is up to, and if people start hearing back from manchester or swansea  so i'm sure i'll speak to you soon!

I hope it's not as well! The Sheffield position has already been removed from the NHS Jobs website though :s-smilie: which they said they would do if enough people applied but it was only up for 3/4 days!

I want everyone else to start posting too  would be really great to start getting to know some people
Hey

I got the email about Sheffield Jobs as well, but I was confused because I didn't mention anything about Cardiology, but it had all the right details. eg. 4 year course, part time etc. But as you said it has now expired which is annoying because it wasn't clear at all.

Also, what are everyones conditions for the Leeds offer? Other than securing a job? When I went for the open day they said you needed to have a science A level but have ABB. I got AAC in my a levels and was told that was fine, but when my offer came through it said I needed a B in Biology so I am now having to resit my Biology exams. Does everyone have the same conditions? Or is it different for each individual?

I'm honestly hoping that it wasn't one of the placements. As you say, it wasn't specifically cardiac physiology - it was clinical physiology and you could specialise in the are you wanted (so could be respiratory, cardiac, neuro, etc.) so seems like it might have just been something separate...

I can't help much I'm afraid... My conditions are slightly different as I'm on an Access course. All I can say is that they've asked for all my level 3 credits to be at Distinction level (which is the highest mark possible), so a bit like asking for AAA really...

I'm sure there will be more, there are every year so it's pretty likely

Haven't heard from Manchester yet.... checking track constantly lol
I heard from Manchester about 6 weeks ago :s-smilie: but I know they didn't finish the interview process until quite late so maybe they are staggering the offers??
I just heard back today  have finally been able to pick my 1st and 2nd choices!

Has anyone who applied to swansea heard back from them yet? I'm getting worried :frown:
Wakefield have posted a job but they say you have to have an Unconditional Offer to apply... surely no one has an unconditional as your place is conditional on getting a job?? I'm confused :s-smilie:

Heyyy, I have an interview at Swansea on the 28th April (ridiculously late, it's going to be a bit of rushh!), I was wondering, what was it like? Do I need to prepare anything for it? Thanksss!

Heyy, basically my interview was so relaxed, there was 3 people asking the questions ( 2 from cardiology and 1 from respiratory) We had a talk about the course first, then had individual interviews, I wouldn't worry though, It's the obvious questions you would normally get and also I got asked some things about my personal statement
You'll be fine!
Good luck!!

I've applied for it anyway, think it must just be a mistake  I'm just glad that it's only open to people that already have an offer! Otherwise the competition would have been awful!
Yeah, I applied too.

Do you know how many people were offered a place at Leeds? So we know the chances of getting a place?

I think there's 40 people with offers and 20 placements, so a 50:50 chance (less if you only apply to a few places though obviously) :s-smilie:

Hey
I also applied to Swansea and have heard nothing back! I've been getting worried too, though maybe they just haven't sent back any replies yet?

Hopefully they'll get back to us soon,
Good luck
