UCL Firm-ers! 2011 Entry

Firmed for geography :smile:

worrying bout accommodation now. I wanna be self catered and close by but I really don't wanna be in shared accommodation. Where's everyone else wanna be placed?

I wanna be close and self catered too, I live in London already so being close to UCL is pretty important otherwise there's just no point in moving out really if i have to travel!

I guess the lower the amount you want to pay per week the greater the chance you have of being self catered because catered is generally more expensive...

Same course for me....Mine's Unconditional now as already got 360 UCAS points and still have 3 modules left of my BTec National.

Although I'm sure I will be the oldest on the course at 40+...LOl

I also want self-catered close to UCL. I really like Astor College - only £120/week, there's a gym and it's close to Ramsay Hall, so socialising should be pretty convenient.

I put 'Proximity to UCL' as my main priority, 'UCL Student House' as no 1 and the maximum I'm prepared to spend a week as £125, so I'm hoping I stand a chance of getting Astor as all the others within a 10 min walk of the main campus are £140+. I don't know what I'll do if I'm offered a shared room there though. There was a rather ominous note on the form saying that those under 19 yrs applying for self-catered accommodation are likely to be offered shared rooms - I'll turn 19 in December 2011...

Oh, I put Astor, too. Hmm...I agree, it's big, friendly and close to everything. However, I want a single room so I put my max. cost as #142. I put that as my priority, too. =] I'm not sure as it costs 140 pounds to occupy a single room in Astor so you'd probs be put in a shared room. Argh that's a shame, I turn 19 next year so I'm more likely than you. What have you applied for by the way? =]

Since I live in Astor:

The gym is just a gym - no weights etc. Just some basketball hoops and lines for various sports on the floor, not too dissimilar to your school gym. Just clarifying.

There aren't many shared rooms in Astor, with the exception of ground floor (which are self contained flats only) and possibly 7th, the rest of the floors I think have 1 double room and 1 flat, though don't hold me to that. Majority of the rooms are single rooms, majority of the residents will be 18 when you move in (Though I seemingly live with quite a few gap year-ers as well).

There are many people who I live with who turn 19 while they're living in halls and they're in single rooms. I wouldn't worry about it too much at this point.

Getting rejected from biomedicine was actually hilarious at the time. I received my rejection the day after my medicine offer. It's been suggested that I was only rejected because I got my medicine offer but I genuinely think I just wasn't considered good enough for biomedicine yet I was considered good enough for medicine. So yeah I have been both accepted and rejected by UCL, quite an achievement I feel :awesome:

It was actually surprisingly easy. I visited Cambridge again and was just bored out of my mind walking around. I really couldn't imagine myself there for three years. But UCL for six years? :awesome:
