Putting down quiet option for accommodation?

I was literally coming on the ask the same question - I'm halfway through my form now.
I'm really not sure what they mean by "quiet" - cos I don't want to be put with a load of people who don't really talk or leave their rooms, but then I don't want to be put with people who have no respect for ordinary times of days and start screaming etc at 5am or whatever :/

The way I'm leaning towards is not selecting it - as I'm quite shy at first too, maybe more outgoing people will push you out your shell a bit more

Where're you applying for btw?

I wouldn't worry too much about it if I were you. Quiet doesn't necessarily mean anti-social. Take yourself for example, you enjoy socialising despite being a wee bit shy, so it stands to reason that there will be plenty more like you. The only difference being, it's less likely that you'll get woken up at 3am by a bunch of guys slapping their dicks at your door!!

I've done the halls thing before and I hope to God I get a quiet flat this year. You'll be grand I'm sure, but if it's really worrying you, have a word.
I would say that it's probably people who are worried by being kept up at 3am by drunken flat mates rather than antisocial people. If you're worried, make an effort with them in the first few weeks and if you find you don't like them then branch out into societies. I disliked my flatmates in first year so I joined lots of societies. Now I have friends with similar interests who I know very well so it worked out all well.

My problem is that I know I have the potential to BE one of those irritating people keeping people up at 3am - but I wouldn't take very kindly to it if it happened constantly.

Hey

I've submitted my accommodation form for Exeter and put down that I'd like to share with other quiet people. Anyone else done it? I'm kind of regretting it now, I don't want to be with loads of people who don't leave their rooms :frown:. I like socialising and stuff but I'm quite shy which is why I put it down and worrying about it now.

Also, does anyone know if it's easy to change your preferences once you've submitted your form? Can you just email them?

Hey, I know this is a bit late but i've been worrying about it too! I'm also quite shy and the only reason i really put it down was cause I don't particularly want to be woken up at 4 am by shouting lol. I did mine last night and regretted it as soon as I sent it haha. I'd rather be in halls with loud/outgoing people than not socialising much at all, so I'm thinking of just emailing them to change it

I put down quiet option. But that's basically because I'd rather not have someone playing loud music all the time!
But then again I've also selected the Lafrowda enhanced by the building works, so that I can get cheaper accommodation. Which won't be the quietest place :P
I put myself down for the quiet accommodation as well and, as with most people, am regretting it! I'm pretty sociable but not overly keen on going out EVERY night but I chose it because I don't want to be kept up at all hours of the night.. I'm in two minds about whether to change it or not.. I don't want to be stuck with really antisocial people who won't ever leave their rooms but again I don't want to be plagued by loud music and talking all night long. :s-smilie:

If it makes you feel any better from what I understand most people putting it down are shy or quiet and don't want to be woken up in the middle of the night, and are probably having exactly the same thoughts as you!
