Please read the poem below:

IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Rudyard Kipling

Sometimes we all have to have the courage to stand up to those we disagree with. Even if they are our parents. I'm not suggesting you don't work hard and don't go to Oxbridge....but if you don't then you will be fine if you are secure in your own achievements.

nice poim brah

I'm with AQA. The unit 1 we're doing (the one I'm revising the most) is Women in Athens and Rome. Unit 2 is The Odyssey.

Which units are you doing?

I was decieved when I took it that it would be as interesting as history.

Ah yep I did those two units last year (I'm in year 13). This year we're doing the Persian Wars and Tiberius and Claudius. I have to say I enjoyed the year 12 topics a lot more than the year 13 ones.

For a person who knows nothing about medicine / medical eduation / how the system works - if you tell them that you went to Keele and that your friend went to Cambridge, who would they think had a better education / was a "better doctor"?

I hear that the foundation year selectors speak directly to your friends when determining how good a doctor you are. srs

Surely they'd be biased towards you and thus it would make life a lot more difficult for the employers? :redface:

Depends whether or not they were doctors going for the same position.. so maybe thats the real test - ask other wanna be docs and if they say rubbish about you then their opinion of them decreases

.... ok im now confused with what i'm saying... probably easiest to ignore that - to much revision on the mind for one day :rolleyes:

LOL + I guess they could lie and say bad stuff if they're applying for that same post at the same hospital, so that they could get a position there instead :redface:
