Economics course accreditation.

As the title suggests, I was wondering if Manchester's Economics course is accredited by any external body, like engineering courses are by IET. Furthermore, how much does this matter in the real world? I am an international student.

I've found that it doesn't really matter when you get to the job seeking stage. I've been to quite a few assessment centers at the Big Four (and secured a job as well) and you get people from all degree backgrounds there from all sorts of universities. In fact most business grad jobs (I assume thats what you're going for considering you're studying Economics) don't require you to have a relevant degree. Manchester is a very highly ranked university and economics is a good degree so your chances of getting a good grad job are pretty decent.

KPMG. I did (well am currently in my 3rd year to be exact) Bsc Management but the content of that is very similar to the Econ people who take a lot of business school courses. Management, Economics, Finance, Accounting, IBFE- it doesn't matter which one you do, the content is very similar and employers don't really care.

Did you take any Finance credits as part of ur degree? May I ask, so you're in the graduate scheme or internship?

I did Management with the Accounting and Finance specialism so most of my modules are finance related. I'm in the graduate scheme.

Oh okay. Would you recommend me taking both Finance and Accounting modules then at Uni?

How come that you're in the graduate scheme, bearing in mind you're still in 3rd year? Is it because of UofM's relationship with the companies? or have I misunderstood your situation?

You'll have to see what modules interest you so I can't really give recommendations.

What I meant about the grad scheme was that I applied for a job that I will be starting once I finish uni. A big part of third year (and 2nd year for internships) is applying to companies to secure a job before you graduate.
