No, there were usually 2 or 3, but i mean if one person says they've received a med phys offer from a trust, isnt it likely that all the offers for that trust would have also been sent out at the same time, but we've only heard about the one on here?

And i applied to loads of them, almost all of them in fact :/ lol

I'm waiting for vascular. We were interviewed a day before audiology..so we only gonna hear back week after next (16th - 20th)...long wait still :frown:

St George's? For physicists? I know the engineers heard but I didn't realise physics had from London (unless I missed a post somewhere along the line). No reason to believe that engineers and physicists would hear at the same time is there?

I applied to all 3 London trusts, though I'd happily go anywhere. Now going to not think about it anymore til Monday when what will be will be. Best of luck all.

Does the fact that not all medical physics people were told today mean than blood sciences will now be delayed? Im sooooooo tired of waiting. This has had such an impact on my life (mostly negative). I reeeeeeaaaaallllllly would like to know now. I cant believe we had the interview a MONTH ago and people still havent heard either way.. I hope they tell us next week, I cant take much more of this. My health is really suffering.

Would this include a straight biology degree (and i choose multiple genetic modules)

Yeah, should be fine. When it says "life sciences degree" it usually means you can have any life sciences degree title as long as you qualify it with the relevant modules you've studied. It's more about the modules than the title.

Theres no harm in trying I suppose. I was a bit reluctant at first because I heard that its mainly only people with PhDs who get the jobs (and this is generally true in Scotland where i live; only a few exceptions), but I managed to secure an interview so it's definitely possible with just an undergraduate degree.

Where I differ from you is the 'relevance' of the degree. Mines is Biochemistry and Immunology joint honours and its highly biomedical based and also involved clinical modules, and I have a feeling it's that what dragged me to interview. So it really depends on how many relevant modules you have in your degree, and try and convince them that you meet the job specification.

My old boss was on the interview panel and was commenting on how hard it was choose (I know that for Oxford I was 6th on the shortlist. And they were most looking for PhDs in that one apparently).

well i dont have a phd, i went to visit some of the lab prior to the interview and one of them told me they didnt even want to take someone on this year as they didnt agree with all the changes. they said that the programme allowed them to train ther person as they wanted but now they cant do that and have to stick to all the new guidlines, they werent happy about it! i though great way to encourage someone who is coming to see your lab and hopefully work for you! haha!!
at least ive tried and i will try again next year, at least i will be more prepared for next year :smile:

To be fair, as long as you have (or are on course to) a 2.1 degree in relevant subject the rest comes down to your experience (i.e. in the lab) and ability to tick the boxes. The document used for shortlisting was posted several times on this thread, and according to that having postgrad experience only gives you 1 extra point (well, and maybe another point for having a published work, that's it - 2 extra points on whole application). So all "advantage" of people with PhD's/posgtrad is down to their ability to talk about things they do and giving examples of transferable skills. As long as you have enough experience to meet all criteria on person specification it shouldn't really matter.
Of course I can't really vouch for life sciences disciplines, but from my experience in engineering recruitment the whole process was fair and having a postgrad degree would not give you a significant edge on other applicants. And as they're trying to centralise the whole scheme, I would be surprised if this is significantly different for other disciplines.
Best of luck for whatever you decide to do, but don't be put off by people saying "it's impossible to get in without a PhD" :redface:

Well I'm waiting for imm which was the day before biochem and I was under the impression that both imm and biochem will be told from 9th - 13th, but it looks like there have been delays from this week so I'm not holding out much hope :frown:

I'm away on holiday tomorrow so I plan to try and check my email every other day, I really hope by the time I come home I know what is goin on. I just can't bare waiting any longer!

Imm still haven't heard?! Am I right thinking it was the 11th you were interviewed?
As Life Sciences, I was hoping to hear back this week ... but if you're still waiting, and I wasn't interviewed till the 15th ... maybe I shouldn't get my hopes up!

Wednesday - micro
Thursday - histopath
Friday - genetics
