If you are good at French at SG or Int2 then I found that Higher French is quite easy in comparison to most other Highers. Just know your vocab and have good grammar and you will be fine

Maths is quite a jump up from SG but imo is more fun than SG.

Overall a good set of highers - but what about Higher English?

Maths is fine, as long as you do plenty of past papers. Biology on the other hand is an absolute bitch. It has twice as much to remember as any of the other sciences (believe me, I know) and you need all of it. Plus, they make up their own stupid rules about graphs and are ridiculously fussy about the wording of answers, unlike my beloved Chemistry. My friend even made up a poem about Biology. Here it is.

Oh, Biology, how do I loathe thee?
Let me count the ways.
Thou make me feel stupid
and insignificant
and small!

 Worst subject ever, yet I'm doing it for Advanced Higher because the human biology parts are great, I just wish my school did Human Biology instead of normal Biology with their stupid plants and trees  And I want to do Pharmacy so pretty much a requirement.

And as for Chemistry...one of the best subjects you will ever do. Simple as. If French is anything like German then that'll also be great fun. You can watch films in French and call it revision. I use this as an excuse to watch Monty Python (which I plan to do before the final next week, since it's in the afternoon. Good listening practice) but yeah, it's really good fun.

I've been looking for some way to express my hatred for Biology and why exactly I hate it and I do believe you've hit the nail on the head there.

It's amazing, I love my friend, she's great at that stuff. First thing I'm going to write on my AH folder next year. I tried to do one based on Shakespeares "My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun..." one, but Biology was being contrary as always and I couldn't make it fit. Stupid, stupid subject, highly annoying teacher. It's the graphs I hate most. Why can't they follow the same goddam rules as every other science? It's not difficult!

"Look at this experiment! Look at this graph of results! WHAT'S GOING ON?!"
I don't know :ashamed2:

 The worst one is this

Teacher:"WHY IS THERE ONLY ONE ZERO IN THE CORNER OF THIS GRAPH? THIS ISN'T PHYSICS!!"

Me: "WHY IS BIOLOGY SO ANTISOCIAL? ALL THE OTHER SCIENCES DO IT!"

 "Explain what's going on in this graph."
"The line goes up, down, up again and then it stops."
" You're going to fail."

Oh, the fun I have with my Biology teacher. We have a competition to see who can swear at her the most times behind her back without getting caught. Juvenile, yes, but I need some way of relieving stress!

dreading higher art now though, kinda wish i'd crashed modern studies or business management!
Should probably point out that I'm doing...

AH Biology
AH Maths
AH Chemistry
H History
And I'll be keeping up with German in my spare time because there's no way I'm letting that outta my life. It's breaking my heart to be dropping English though. *sob sob* I want to do Pharmacy at Bath, Cardiff, UEA, Strathclyde and maybe RGU or Kent as a nice one with lower entry requirements that won't kill me.

Next year Ive chosen to do:

English
Maths
French
Spanish
Business Management

all higher, im not sure what I want to do yet, was thinking about studying languages somewhere as the actual degree course seems really interesting and I especially love the fact that most languages degrees offer a year abroad and Id love to be able to speak other languages well, the whole idea of the course I absolutely love, its just that after finishing the degree there is not millions of languages jobs and I have no idea what I would want to do jobwise, and I dont want to spend ages doing a degree to find it pointless at the end (like my mother did only recently but her degree was in a very specialised subject - Learning Difficulties/Disabilities)

so yeah ...

Seems rather a heavy workload for pharmacy? Could you get away with doing less?

Well, Bath and Cardiff both want three advanced highers, AAB or ABB (if I'm lucky) and I think UEA does too. Chemistry and at least one other science. I know it seems ridiculous, RGU and Strathclyde are much lower, but I have to be able to compete with the applicants to the uni's down South because only two uni's do Pharmacy up here and I wouldn't feel comfortable only applying to two universities. And as for Higher History, if I didn't do something that involved a lot of writing I think I'd go mad, it's bad enough that I'm not doing English.

Oh I'm sure you will cope  I was just wondering.

English unis do expect Scottish applicants to do much better in 6th year. Which of those would be your 'first choice'? If it is Strathclyde or RGU then maybe only choosing 2 unis would cut out a lot of bother. Cheaper too  Just a thought.

Bath or Cardiff. I really like the look of the course in Bath, and the city as well. And if I'm going to be there for four years I'd better like where I'm living. Yeah, my dad nearly fainted when I told him the course was four years, but he's a bit of a uni snob so the idea of me going to a Russell Group uni means he's willing to pay the ridiculous fees. So much for financial independence. Might go to Strathclyde though. All depends on where I get offers from really.

Well that is Ok if he is willing to pay  But as you said, so few unis offer pharmacy that they are all recognized courses, which uni you go to won't matter (I don't go to a Russel group uni )
