Bristol Accommodation (Which one suits me best?)

CHH sounds like the best hall for you. If you can cope without being in catered halls (its a pain in the bum most of the time) then go for Manor.

Because it prevents you from doing anything in the evening. I think I only made it to dinner once a week because I had musical rehearsals, society stuff, was seeing friends outside of halls etc. Dinner is only between 5 and 6.30 (or somethign similar) which doesnt suit my eating habits at all, and breakfast was very early for an arts student. If you dont have lectures in the morning you wont bother going to breakfast. It just ends up being annoying.

Lunch you always have to sort out by yourself in all halls. You have to eat the meals in the dining hall, you cannot take anything out with you. How much you spend on food is up to you. Some people live on £30 a week, others spend a lot more.

If you cant cook, there are ready meals, which you shove in a microwave and pop out again ready cooked. You can boil pasta, sauce, vegetables easily. To be honest, you are going to have to learn to cook at some point, and when you are in first year and no one can cook is a pretty good time to start.

If I do go non-catered, I'm looking more at putting Goldney down as a first choice, followed by Manor.

Is this a wise choice?
And is there a better 2nd choice in clifton for halls? Thanks!

I am also a student with a firm offer for October. I cannot find Goldney and Manor as options in their website. Where exactly did you find them?

If you want convenience, then go for Clifton. My friends at CHH aren't overly enamoured with their dining- I think it's best to go self-catered anyway, because you've got to learn at some point how to cook. Also people say you can lose out not being part of the student community at Stoke Bishop, I don't think this is the case at all. I'm at Goldney and we do so much socialising altogether, if anything it's better because there's a more personal feel to it, plus it's nice only having to do a short walk in the morning

May I know if there is anything you can put into your application for residence to give you a higher chance of getting into goldney?

Goldney has always been the most sociable hall in clifton. The idea of missing out socially I think is mostly from residents at manor and orbital accommodation. Personally I think you can be sociable wherever you are and have lots of fun regardless of where you live. It's just a matter Pr putting the effort in.
