Seriously dude, this is so disgusting that it's bordering on troll material.

I wish it was trolling but no time to troll .... need to rush out a 2500 word essay by 9am and I haven't even started. LOL I really should get started on it but this is just bugging the hell out of me I can't get my head in gear to come up with it.

BTW are you doing the BPTC or LPC next or you not going into practice?
okay, so last year, Alex had a birthday party (3rd birthday), whereas Jason (1st birthday) had just a little cake and balloons at MIL's house (so not a proper party), and for Lydia (5th birthday) we went to a safari park, so not a party at all.

This year, we've decided it's only fair if we do an outing for Alex's 4th birthday, and Lydia gets a party for her 6th birthday (we can't afford more than one party really - all the kids birthdays are pretty close, Alex's is 6 weeks before Lydia's, and Jason's is the day before Lydia's).

So....

14th August - an outing for Alex
25th September - a party for Lydia

but that leaves Jason. 24th September is his 2nd birthday. Now, he doesn't go to nursery, so he doesn't know any other children apart from Lydia and Alex, so a party is not feasible as there would be nobody to invite. I don't want him to just go to MIL's and eat cake again because that's kinda pants. It's okay for a 1 year old who doesn't really understand, but he's getting bigger now, I want to do something a bit better for his 2nd birthday.

So....do we....

-have some sort of outing for him as well on his birthday (but bear in mind the following day will be Lydia's party, so things will be kind of hectic)

or

-make Lydia's party a joint party, so he has his cake and everything at HER party, and put banners up for both of them (but bear in mind that the only kids going will be 5/6 year olds, friends of Lydia....and Alex of course will be there, that goes without saying).

or

-something else I'm just not thinking of!

so far, we've done :

Lydia -
1st birthday - mini party with family
2nd birthday - Chester zoo
3rd birthday - flamingo land theme park
4th birthday - cinema with DH (I was in hospital having just had Jason, so couldn't do much that year)
5th birthday - Knowsley safari park

Alex -
1st birthday - mini party with family
2nd birthday - soft play, and then a Sundown theme park a few days later
3rd birthday - proper party at home with bouncy castles

Jason -
1st birthday - mini party with family

Joint party I think, keep the cost down....... so long as it isn't joint presents as well

I thought your DH had a surgery around the time of the party? The one that got cancelled due to the snow?

It was meant to be in August, but they've pushed to a year's time. It's very disheartening tbh.

Yes they thought she had glue ear which she did and couldnt get a accurate pic of the hearing loss so last yr when the grommets in done a brain stem test which revealed she is virtually deaf in the left ear. so its very important to look after the other ear prevent glue ear etc in it its affected her speech and stuff but shes coming on nicely now xx

Do you remember me saying my sister (who's 28 now) had the same thing around Ella's age too? They told her she'd be completely deaf by the time she was 21 in one ear and virtually deaf in the other and need hearing aids. Apart from needing the TV loud at the moment and not being able to hear people well if they're talking to her from behind she's ok. Don't let them telling you she was virtually deaf in one ear worry you completely.. My Mum panicked apparently when they said it about my sister, but she's still got hearing in it and she's 28 now.

Hope she's ok

You're so organised!

Maybe a joint party for Jason and Lydia? Would Lydia mind? It might give him the opportunity to socialise with other children too - I know they wont be his own age, but he'll probably really like all the attention from the 5/6 year olds! I really cannot believe he's nearly 2 already...where does time go!

I thought that was a fairly critical surgery wasn't it? Can't remember what was it for.... thought delaying surgery could only exacerbate a problem.

Should try to bug them a bit, may get you up the priority list.
Cutie Pie - cheers for the suggestion hun. No I don't think Lydia would mind

Erich - it's a gastric sleeve, so not URGENT exactly but it is dangerous for him to be at the size that he is. We're just having to work on him losing more weight himself whilst he waits for the op.
Gosh EH, that sounds like a terribly complicated family situation. I agree with PMP, there would be no way she would be seeing my children with an attitude like that. And as far as smacking goes I don't personally do it and neither does my DP, although I can see that being an issue if one parent is for and the other against, it's a toughie.

PMP: Why not just go on a family trip to a farm or something for Jason's 2nd or something he'll really enjoy? Wacky warehouse, get a cake and them to bring it out! As he is only 2 it doesn't even have to be on his birthday it could be a couple of weeks before or after so the cost isn't all on one weekend. I personally wouldn't have a joint birthday because I'm a twin and I have always had joint Birthday parties! I just think when you have more than one child it's nice for them to just be lavished with all the attention for the day.

It's Milly's 2nd Birthday a week on Saturday and we're just having a Peppa Pig Tea Party at home with a few friends, just small lunch and a few party games! She is very excited! Then for Bella's in July we're having it at a soft play centre, which should be quite fun!

Guess who is back at uni come september! Post grad!

I'm an acedemic. I didn't want to join the lion's den of competative lawyers backstabbing eachother.

PMP - I'm not a fan of joint parties. I want to make each child feel special in their own right. Perhaps an outing for Jason? To the coast? Or a soft play centre? It's Amy's 1st birthday in July and we've booked a soft play/sensory centre  I know you say Jason doesn't have 'friends' so you don't need to book a whole centre, just go to an open one.

PMP i agree with BP suggestions... must be so difficult having all the birthdays so close when it comes to money!!

Wow BP, cannot believe Milly will be two, where does the time go!
Uni in september sounds exciting, what will you be doing?? x

Finally announced my pregnancy on Facebook. *gulp*
BP - great news about uni

Tufts - aye I saw your facebook announcement! ee exciting!
picture of the day - we went to an all you can eat breakfast brewers fayre pub yesterday. kids ate free, so paid just over £15 for all of us to eat like pigs for brekkie!

(my fridge freezer is broken so I didn't have any milk or bacon at home)

I'm going slightly wappy without a fridge freezer it has to be said. It has been 5 days now. I had to resorted to making us gelatinous salty tinned ham, warm tomatoes, warm soft cheddar, and crackers for lunch today. It was not impressive.

All the satisfied faces haha..... I must say after 4 days in Zurich am missing my Full English brekkie LOL.

Breakfast here for £8 or so does not get you more than an orange juice, a roll with butter and jam plus a bowl of muesli.

Oh yes, brought the LO for her 1st flight experience.......... phew thankfully it went quite well. She is enjoying her time here, brought her on a cruise of the lake yesterday.

What's wrong with the refrigerator unit?
(edited 12 years ago)
glad your LO is having a good time and that the flight went well.

No idea what's up with my fridge-freezer, it just isn't cold. 27 degrees in both the fridge and the freezer at the moment. I can't hear the motor running either. Everything just defrosted, I had to throw away tons of food. I noticed on Friday that it was warmer than it should be - it was -1 degrees in the freezer and 17 degrees in the fridge. I was really baffled. Then it just got warmer and warmer and warmer.

I've ordered a new one, I ordered it on Saturday, but so far it just says "in warehouse - dispatched soon". So it could be anybody's guess when it gets here.
Put things into cool bags with bottles of tap water. Will keep them slightly less hot - won't help much, but could give you lukewarm food instead of warm
thanks Sephrenia. I don't have any cool bags unfortunately lol. I'm hopeless.

Had a phone call today to say that the fridge-freezer will arrive Saturday morning.
